Great Location, Wonderful stay!!
vivvermaon 20/11/2014 15:20I have been to Meiningen Germany last year in 2013 on a business trip for 3 weeks. My stay was booked at Hotel Altstadt. Location is great as the hotel is located at the banks of Werra river. Its very quite and peaceful and just 10 mins walk from the city center. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good and the hotel provides free wi-fi which was very important for me as a business traveler.
Overall I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel !!

Good breakfast and kindly staff.
Location is good and quiet and 10 min walking from the center of the town.
Meiningen is nice and very quiet town (maybe too quiet).

diberg1on 13/07/2014 15:26Just outside town, and a short walk and you are there, past old timbered homes. All remodeled with modern furniture and bath, excellent. We stayed 2 nites and were completely happy. Breakfast good, including the regulars and both scrambled and soft boiled eggs. Alexandre, the hostess, will assist you with anything you may need, she even did our laundry!, for which we were grateful. A small tip is reasonable. Parking is on site, WiFi is free. Breakfast only, you must eat in town.
Highly recommended.
Quiet and peaceful
ericyellowon 20/02/2014 19:30My father and me stayed at Altstadt Hotel an der Werra (that means Altstadt Hotel on the Werra river) in January 2014. Actually I was gonna visit the biathlon world cup event in Oberhof but there were any vacant rooms at the hotels of Oberhof. The hotel is very nice and clean even though it's small. The food was really fresh and good. Meiningen is a queit place so you can just relax there. You don't need any car to travel because Meiningen is so small so it takes 10-15 minutes to get there from the railway/bus station. One moment you don't like - staff and everyone in that town is not so good in English so sometimes you have to explain in a sign language. My father didn't like the shower cabin - it seemed small to him.
Well, Altstadt Hotel is really worth staying in. And you will see it if you ask someone from Meiningen about this hotel: locals told me that I was lucky to stay there
Excellent value b&b short walk from centre
Heathermaccon 16/12/2013 20:57We had a warm welcome at this very good value (c€35 pppn) small hotel. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Furnishings generally good (Ikea standard) but shower a bit dated. Free wifi; excellent breakfast. No reception service in late evening. 10 mins walk to town centre; quiet location; parking.
