Typical Euro hotel
CEJManitobaon 01/02/2014 06:59Its been quite a while since I have been to mainland Europe and have forgot what the hotels were like. Amaks in Tambov has typically sized Euro rooms with some larger upscale rooms available. I was in one of the regular rooms with a small shower stall and double bed. The bed had a mattress and no box spring that seemed inadequate but I actually slept quite well on it.
There was only a radiator for heat that could barely overcome the cold draft from the windows(single pane) and door to the patio. The bathroom had its own looped heater that kept it warm.
Luckily the blankets were more than adequate.
The restaurant is very good and open very late, past 2am. It also has a sauna and conference rooms.
Overall it was clean hotel with friendly staff. Rooms were 2700-7500 rubles/night.
Good location but bad management
nelly won 02/06/2013 11:06I stayed for 4 nights in this beautiful situated hotel. I would have given a more positive appreciation but some facts are terrible. First negative point: nobody in this hotel speaks a word in another language than russian which makes it difficult for a foreign tourist to communicate. Second point: they put us in the 5 floor where renovations are made. The rooms where new but some works weren't finished:no curtains to make it dark, some lamps were missing, electrical material hanging out of the wall. The entire floor was on renovation, beds, matrasses, chairs, dirt, construction material was lying around, you had to climbe over it while entering your room.
Breakfast was good, the rooms and the hotel is clean. This hotel could be a good adress but unfortunately a lot of things don't work. Tambow is a very nice interesting town which will be visited more and more by foreigners and needs good hotels.
