The restaurant was excellent
ZiadRon 11/08/2017 11:28We ordered the Sri Lankan set menu for dinner and it was excellent: very nicely prepared and served with generous portions. The ambience was lovely and our waiter, Priyankara was fantastic. He was attentive and efficient. He also answered a lot of our questions.
Definitely a colonial feel!
LondonN21on 09/08/2017 07:52We stayed 2 nights in this little (30 rooms) hotel on the edge of the fort, so a real appeal to those interested in heritage and history. Very colonial feel-the decor, the furniture all wood, music etc. apparently all original. Clean sparse rooms, but you had everything you needed. Our room was on the top floor (2nd) and we certainly felt the climb! No lifts, no tv. Very good polite service at all times - only negative on that is that a number of staff did not understand or speak English- so needed to find someone who did. Great view of the sea, intrigued by the number of people that came all day long to take professional romantic photos in the open grass at the front of the hotel! Good but very expensive (only reason it's not 5 star) experience.
Perfect
Tina Son 03/08/2017 05:44We had the best stay ever here. All staff was so sweet, taking really good Care of us and our little daughter. They were very High level trained. Small details like giving us water when we went out on the fort tour, and wet towls when we came back totally hot. Each time They also remembered our guide. The rooms were very spacious ind "coloniel" style. No tv in the room, but accually this was not a problem. Wifi ok. Great pool area, where we also had breakfast and lunch. Dinner and High tea on the balcony, nice food and atmosfere.
Savor your time here
SanFranciscoBodieon 19/07/2017 13:36This 20 or so room hotel is at the top of Galle Fort, within historic former administrative buildings. It is part of the Aman hotel group, known for superb personalized service. My "standard" room had a large canopied bed, writing desk, and adjoining dressing room for two, closeted toilet, and closeted shower. A claw footed tub centers the room and large davenports house your hanging and folded clothes. Air conditioned and ceiling fan, and windows that open. The rooms are aligned along two hallways, and an inner courtyard with a guesthouse, shared pool, spa and library. There is a formal dining room. Cocktails are served in the expansive lobby and more preferably the veranda overlooking the outside mostly walking street traffic.Breakfast is included and I was introduced to avocado toast here. .Your every need will be looked after by a butler and staff If you leave the room briefly it will be tidied every time.. I had the best massage ever there, and a beard trim and shave that was heaven. These are luxury hotels, enjoy them. Walking distance to the ocean, fort attractions, restaurants, and other interests.
Amazing drinks and dinner!
SabySGon 28/06/2017 08:57We stayed a bit outside of Galle Fort, but came to Galle for dinner. We actually just wanted to have pre dinner drinks, but they were so good, and after we looked at the menu, we decided to stay on for dinner. We got some fish cakes with our drinks, but my husband has a seafood allergy and I'm not very fond of fish cakes either, so they brought us the most delicious chips ever. We asked for a second bowl :-) dinner was again, exceptionally good and staff was very attentive and friendly. The hotel looks lovely from outside and I'm sure the rooms are delightful. I would recommend to stay there, even if I haven't seen their rooms, but I'm sure they're just perfect. Thanks for a great dinner!
