Fantastic
GailR56on 29/08/2017 08:41It's difficult to critique an Aman hotel, you pay for it but the design & operation are generally faultless. This is certainly the case at Amankila. Before going we did have some doubts about how the property would have weathered after 20+ years. Absolutely no problem, a programme of rolling refurbishment ensures a timeless feel. General Manager Ernst runs an extremely efficient establishment and coupled with the natural charm of the local Balinese people we have had an excellent three night stay. Highlights were the bicycle tour, (3 hours with a guide from the hotel), where you get to see real life. The quality of the cuisine under Chef Shane's exuberant guidance. Only spoiler are the tankers in the bay, but it didn't spoil it for us, we will return.
Paradise
Wendy Kon 22/08/2017 01:09We just spent our 25th Anniversary at the Amankila. I did not want to leave. The views are beyond anything you can imagine. Pure paradise! The tiered pools are gorgeous. The individual covered spaces by the pool provide shade, a breeze, spectacular views and a feeling of peace. The huts on the beach and beach club area make you appreciate nature. Take the boat / snorkeling trip and East Bali tour trip from the resort. The chef worked with us on our special diet. The whole place feels like Big Dur meets Malibu on steroids and then some. Over the top in terms of beauty. Non pretentious. LOTS of stairs on the property. You have to walk everywhere and take many many stairs to get everywhere on the property. My ideal "happy place."
Awesome For Quiet Getaway
Paul Con 20/08/2017 02:22This property was only 50% booked when we stayed for 10 days. If you want quiet relaxation this is the place to be. Suites were awesome, views were awesome and the staff was so attentive.
A bit pricey, but worth it.
A fantastic view !
GBER82on 17/08/2017 11:13The hotel has a fantastic view, we also asked to move to a room with a better view and it was granted. Unfortunately we had to leave the hotel to go to the hospital but the aman and the general manager gave us all the support we needed and they did not even leave us alone a second. This is what you expect from the best hotels : Aman resorts. thank you!
Definitely worth it!
jopeeSydneyon 04/08/2017 04:17We spent three days and two nights at Amankila, at the end of a trip to Bali for my 50th birthday in July. I had heard a lot about Amankila, with friends having stayed there and recommending it. And it really lived up to the hype. From the moment we were picked up by our lovely driver in Ubud and taken to this wonderful place, everything was perfect. We were greeted by name by all of the staff, the check in was smooth and seamless as we didn't have to spend any time at reception, we were taken directly to our room and it was all done there. The rooms are really large and lovely - we were in a garden view room at the back of the property, which we loved. We felt it was very private but we did have lovely glimpses of the ocean and were surrounded by jungle. There are lovely long walkways and a few steps to get around the property, which we didn't mind, but you can also get picked up in a buggy and taken around if you need. The manager Ernst went out of his way to speak with us every day. He checked in to see how we were liking things, and if everything was as expected. He was amazing and clearly very good at his job! Because it was my birthday, he also very kindly, gave me a spa service as a gift. The food was amazing and has a great selection of Indonesian and non-Indonesian. The chef was also incredibly friendly and he very kindly provided us with an amazing last night dinner by the pool, along with a fabulous birthday cake!
I really can't rave about this place enough. Yes, it is secluded and remote, but that is what I liked about it. We had come from the craziness of Ubud so it was lovely to be able to relax and do nothing. All the staff were wonderful and friendly. We also did one of the complimentary yoga classes in the pavilion by the beach, which was wonderful. The yoga teacher was amazing! The pools, the beach club, the bar, the restaurants, there was nothing that wasn't amazing. I can't wait to get back there!
