One night stay on road trip

Used to be a Clarion--sticker on our sliidng door to balcony. Hotel needs some work. Lady that checked us in was nice enough, but needed help. Stood in line about 15 minutes with 3 people in front of us & the phone kept ringing. She said someone was coming in soon. Lobby was very hot, second set sliding doors stayed open-was 100 degrees! Elevator closest to our room was broken so we used the stairs. Room was average, comfy couch. I went bqck down to ask a question, 2 people ahead of me. A 2nd employee went behind counter straight to the computer-never made eye contact, never said we will be with you soon or anything else. Atrium area was hot yet the indoor pool was so cold I didn't get in, chose hot tub instead. Towel rack was empty so my husband went to the desk to find a long line, so brought one from our room. 50's Diner is closed on Monday's--too bad it looked kind of neat.

Among the worst hotels we have ever stayed at!

Gudrun Son 23/06/2017 02:15

My wife and I have traveled the world in our 54 years together. We have stayed in a lot of different places. We both agree that this hotel is among the top 3 worst places we have stayed at. We were so anxious to leave that we didn't bother to wash up and have breakfast as we normally do. We woke up, got dressed, and ran for our car as soon as we could check out. What's wrong with this place? As soon as we first walked in to the check in desk, there was a line of people ahead of us, either complaining or waiting to be checked in. The temperature outside was 106 degrees. The lobby was about 90 degrees but it was cooler than the atrium which felt like 100 degrees. The strong smell of chlorine from the pool filled the air. The hallways were about the same temperature as the atrium. The elevators were either not working or were so slow that walking up would have been quicker. Our TV didn't work properly. We had NO wifi! The toilet barely flushed so we were afraid to use it. On the way out we decided to see what the breakfast was like. Noticed that the juice machine was out of order, so we tried the coffee. We took one sip and threw rest in the trash. We looked around at what food was available and then headed for IHOP where we had a breakfast with real eggs. This hotel needs to be totally renovated or torn down.

Great Customer Service

We have been staying at Amarillo Inn & Suites until our house is ready to move in and we have had an enjoyable stay. The best part of our stay has been the customer service provided by a gentleman named Chris. I have witnessed first hand how stressful his job can be and he remains calm and professional. He greets me anytime he sees me and always has a smile on his face.

Safety problems

The photos look cute but we were extremely disappointed in our stay. The building was extremely run down. One elevator was completely out of service. The other "working" elevator bounced 6 inches every time you stepped on, and did not have a permit posted inside. The halls were disgusting with old stains, warping floorboards and carpet. The ice machine was broken. The sliding glass door from our room to the tiny balcony was busted and the lock mechanism was breaking out of the door frame. I have to say that the bathroom and linens were clean, and the only reason we stayed for a quick overnight on a long road trip from Florida to California, however I will not return unless they perform major remodels to the building.

We came for the kids to swim!

The manager and staff were all very professional and helpful. The indoor pool area was clean and well-maintained. There is also a game room with pool tables and older video games. The complimentary breakfast is very tasty and expansive. It is served in an area that was a 50s diner restaurant in the past, but is now only open for hotel guests for breakfast. I see that others stated that the hotel is older, and that is true. But, if you are interested more in a family experience that is fun and memorable, then there is plenty to do here during your stay.
