What People are saying

Only hotel situated next to the beach compared to other hotels in the East Cost of Srilanka

Stayed for 10 days at Amaya beach hotel, Passikudah. The staff were very friendly & helpful especially the Executive Housekeeper. The hotel is well managed. Modern hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities. The food was quite good and good service.
On the whole it is an excellent place to relax.

Nice modern hotel

Modern hotel with spacious rooms and really nice facilities.
We found the food to be quite good when it came to local and more elaborate dishes but very normal for "western" plates. Overall the food is one of the best we had in terms of quality in Sri Lanka. Small buffet but with better quality than others with more options.
There are two things to consider, the beach just in front of the hotel has too many rocks (but the one 100m away is just OK) and the internet connection available for the guests is close to inexistent.

Nice place for a holiday

This was our 4th time at the hotel. This time, we faced a problem in the elevator. It stopped working and I was stuck inside it for nearly 15 minutes. The emergency bell was not answered and I had to call the reception from my mobile. I hope this will not happen again in the future. Overall, the food was good but there were not many varieties to choose from. There are lots of corals in the sea in front of the hotel so it's impossible to go for a swim there. The pool was dark in the evening as there are no lights in it. These ideas are shared so that the hotel can improve and do better in the future.

Nice place on a great beach

It's probably not worth traveling all the way to the east coast for just one night. Amaya Beach can be a pit stop for a few days while exploring the east coast. It holds its own among other hyped and new hotels in the vicinity and is probably the largest and as a result, most spacious. The Pasikudah main beach is superb for wading, water sports and snorkerling and is just a few steps away from the hotel. You're better off going there for your sea time as the (rather large) beach front of the hotel is littered with dead coral and is not as pristine.
The service at the front desk could be vastly improved as is the welcome. But the service elsewhere was great. The rooms are what you would expect (all ocean facing) but are nothing special and you wouldn't want to spend a lot of your time in them - thankfully there is a lot to do outside of the rooms. There's a reasonably large menu of activities including a game room and a gym, plus pool table in the bar. The swimming pool can be vastly improved though and is too shallow for any serious watersport. I guess that makes it very kid-friendly.
Finally, the food was great. The bakery/pastry section specially turned out fresh and charming items at each meal and the rest of the food were not far behind. But I guess you lose the novelty after two nights and that anyway is my limit for one hotel.

Not worth for the price

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night, as we wanted to try a resort in Sri Lanka. In general terms, I cannot say that the hotel is not nice but, compared to Sri Lanka prices, the price is very expensive for what you get: the swimming pool seems larger in the photos and the water is too warm, the food is ok but not amazing, the hotel look is a bit too much modern-industrial (not cozy). Wifi works well and the staff is nice and helpful, anyway.
