What People are saying

A good location.

ge0rge26on 03/06/2017 11:12

My wife and I stayed in the Amber hotel for two separate periods four nights apart. The first stay was in lowered priced room that did not have AC. This proved to be a mistake as there was a mini heatwave during our stay! For the second stay we decided to change the booking to a superior room with AC and more space for an extra Euro25 per night. Given the unpredictability of Northern European weather, I would recommend paying the extra for the assured comfort.
The location of the Amber hotel is excellent, being a short walk to the town centre and associated amenities. It is also conveniently located if arriving by car.
The standard of the included buffet breakfast is good.
The reception staff are friendly and efficient.
During the normal working week, the hotel gives the impression of being a business hotel. Our first stay included a long weekend and a coach tour group stayed in the hotel for two nights; this did not significantly affect us, apart from making the breakfast period somewhat busier than normal.

Very good for what it is

The title might sound as if I damning the hotel with faint praise but I'm not.
4 of us stayed here for two nights while visiting a trade fair in Düsseldorf (which is miles away but was the only option available)
The Amber hotel is spotlessly clean, comfortable and well staffed. What more do you want on a business trip?
The rooms are spacious and although there are showers instead of baths even our older colleague with restricted mobility had no problems.
The breakfast is excellent - a varied buffet well presented.
The bar area is just what you need at the end of a day.
As other reviewers have said the old town is a nice place to be. Even the bells of the church nearby aren't too intrusive.
This isn't the sort of hotel for a romantic getaway but it's way better than a Travelodge or similar for business travellers hence the 4 stars.

Pretty good

I had a one night stay here last night. The place was clean, staff friendly, breakfast good. Anything I want out of such a place. It's located right next to hilden Centrum, so you can easily go for a walk in the evening

Great stay for the value. Wonderful breakfast.

I rated this hotel high due to the stay for the value. The rooms were quite comfortable, a separate area to sit and relax with comfortable side chairs.

The parking was easy, right next to the hotel although you had to pay an additional 4€ a night.

The hotel was close proximity to the city center which had shopping and restaurants.

The breakfast at the hotel was a buffet breakfast, full breakfast, and included in the price of the room. If you walked away hungry you are extremely picky. 🤓

Not far from the Schloss Benrath by car.

Will definitely keep this place in mind for future travels in this area.

Average...noisy and hot!

A group of us stayed here for 2 weeks. The hotel is ok, and there isn't too much to complain about. The staff are very nice and friendly and quite happy to help out.

But, the rooms are very hot, there is no air con, and when you come from England into 30+ degrees you want air con! So what can you do, open the window? Well yes, but then you get lots of traffic noise which goes on all night, or noise from the bar area (outside) if you're at the rear of the hotel.

Breakfast I found ok, and typical continental style. Plenty of food to choose from, but certainly no "full English". The bar was good, and I had a decent meal here on my first night.

Apart from the noise and heat the rooms were perfectly adequate, clean and tidy.

There were 6 of us who stayed here, and there was mixed reviews among all of us - some loved it, others didn't. I was in the middle - if there was air con and noise insulated windows it would have got a great review.
