J-sevenlakeson 26/05/2017 14:50The minute I pulled in I wondered what I had gotten myself into. This is a older budget MOTEL. The room was large and cleanish. The sheets and towels were very worn. The bed was ok. Rust colored water came out of the tub facet when I turned it on.....needless to say I did not take a shower. I won't stay again but other then the tub I didn't have any big issues. If you just need a place to sleep at a price it might be fine for you. But for me....I know there are other budget hotels 20 miles either direction. I think I'll drive on next time.
What you pay for.
true2davidon 31/01/2017 03:12I stayed for two nights, the cost was $65 a night with the room with the NS-shower. It was a nice shower, but the overhead nozzle didn't work. Still it was nice. Breakfast was waffles, cereals, toast, sausage, egg patties, muffens, toast, donuts, milk, juice, and coffee. Wifi included. You get what you pay for.

TraveledFarAndWideon 07/11/2016 20:38Back again to the Amber Inn. Quite adequate facility. In an earlier review, I commented on the "Thou Shall Not" posters up all over the property...well, they must have softened a bit as we didn't see them on this trip.
We did stay in the 'big' room with three beds (and with Iowa being thoroughly covered by politicians every four years, the room had the added mantel of "George HW Bush" room). We found everything in good repair, though we commented the carpet looked a bit worn already, considering it'd only been a few years since it had been replaced.
The room service seemed a bit pinched---one of the beds was barely even pulled up, and the sheets didn't seem to be changed on the others.
The breakfast was still very good for the price point. We'll continue using the Amber Inn.
Not Bad but not Great Either
blessedmom101110on 23/08/2016 01:43With an unexpected death in my family we had to travel to Le Mars to attend the funeral. The regular rate was $65 and they only gave us $5 off per night as the "bereavement rate". Most hotels offer more than that. Also the lady at the front desk was, at best, cordial. She didn't have any sympathy for us whatsoever even after the situation had been explained. If I'd had more money I would have chosen a different hotel all together but this was the only place we could afford.
The room was decent but the AC could use some updates. The bed was firm but comfortable. There was a recliner in the room that made an awful metal sound when you reclined it. The internet wasn't reliable nor was it secured by a password.
They did offer free breakfast in the morning and that was actually pretty good most days. The normal fare of cereal, yogurt, pastries and waffles were available along with a different hot breakfast item like biscuits and gravy, which was actually quite good!

Dan Con 30/07/2016 02:16This hotel is much nicer than it appears on the outside. Very cheap rates with breakfast included. Our room was nicely redone despite it being an older motel. The only complaint was a urine odor in our room indicating the carpet needed shampooed. Great beds, tv, and shower.
