Visit to Zagoria
jasinskion 23/09/2016 10:15We stayed at Hotel Ameliko only for 2 nights in early September 2016 because of the bad weather, even though we had planned to stay for much longer. The stay at the hotel was excellent. We had meals both nights which were excellent and very good value. The owners were very kind and helpful and one of them even picked us up at the end of our Vikos gorge walk and brought us back to our starting point. Definitely the best hotel to stay at in Zagoria.
home away from home
Evi788on 18/09/2014 01:22Spacious rooms, lovely surroundings, decent breakfast, genuine traditional Greek tastes; teh premises' wi-fi needs serious upgrade; the heating in certain rooms should be better maintained; the owners are very friendly, always willing to assist and give you all kind of information on the area; great mushroom (fungi) connoiseurs!
best hotel in zagoria
georges1957on 14/05/2014 22:51Ameliko is a perfect base for hiking or just sightseeing in zagoria. Perfect rooms and fantastic athmosphere. Honest cooking with local biological products and very warm hosts. Very friendly and informative. Ano pedina is right in the centre of zagoria, close to vikos gorge and at short distance of meteora. A place we will certainly return to .
Beautiful Accommodation
nanny56on 09/02/2014 04:08Great location - quiet but not far from all the highlights of the Zagoria region. We had a spacious room with a comfortable bed, spotlessly clean bathroom and views of the village and mountains. Free Wi-Fi was much appreciated. Breakfast was adequate and filling - a great way to start the day! Owners were very helpful and provided lots of touring advice. Only downside was that as we were travelling out of season there were only minimal dining facilities open in the village in the evening. But one of Ameliko's owners was prepared to cook a meal for us one evening - great food!!
Wonderful welcome, great food
JonScaifeon 01/01/2014 21:10Hotel Ameliko is run by two gentlemen, both of whom were very friendly and helpful. We were invited to join them for an evening meal which we gladly accepted. They didn't have a menu but said what they were planning to make - roasted vegetables and Greek salad for a starter, and giouvetsi for a main course. One of our party is a vegetarian but our hosts said this was no problem, they'd make him something special - this turned out to be stuffed peppers which he really enjoyed. Almost all the food came from the hotel garden and the food was in the top 5 most delicious meals I've ever eaten. The bill was an almost comical €8! We did also drink plenty of beer and wine however, for which the bill was a slightly expensive €57. Overall though €65 for food and drink combined was excellent value. The room itself was clean, the beds comfortable and the shower excellent. There was also free parking on the street, which in such a small rural village in Greece required no security. We paid a total of €98 and will definitely visit again.
