Fantastic checkin
blackpowder54on 28/07/2017 02:11I told clerk that checked me in that I was leaving at 0500. She told me that she couldn't give me a receipt because I did an online reservation but that there would be no problems getting my copy at 0500. The night manager informed me that I was not allowed to checkout until 0700 when day shift started and that she was not able to do receipts. The room was clean and shower hot with a decent bed
Only as a last resort
Jon Gon 20/07/2017 18:56The only redeeming qualities were the wifi and a reasonably comfortable bed. There is a very active train crossing 100 yards from the hotel. Between the terrible night's sleep and the fact that the coffeemaker in my room didn't work, I Can't give the facility more than one star.
Lodging choices are limited in Torrington, but this one is a good choice.
misty_bee_Wyoon 06/10/2016 14:23This is a nice, older hotel that has good, basic updates. My room was very clean, with newer carpeting and bedspread. The room had all the amenities -fridge, microwave, coffee pot, flat screen TV, hair dryer, grounded protected business outlet box for computers & phones, and a nice brand of cosmetic / hygiene products in the bathroom.
With the wall unit fan / AC / heat on, the white noise blocked any train noise there might have been. Window opens if you want fresh air.
The bed was too firm for my taste, as were the pillows, but that's personal preference.
Friendly check-in. There is a pool area and continental breakfast, but I didn't use them, so can't review.
There are only three hotels in town, and a small motel a bit out of town, so choices are limited, but I thought this was a good choice.
Very noisy!
LuvTravel6633on 22/07/2016 17:52We've stayed here several times and have always asked for a room on the lower level on the back side of the hotel. When we arrived at 4:00 p.m., we were assigned a room on the second level on the front side of the building near the lobby. The young lady said that no one had checked out, so the rooms on the first level weren't available. At 6:00 p.m. we overheard someone being assigned a room on the lower level at the back, so I think that someone messed up but wouldn't admit it. We didn't get much sleep because of people who were arriving, slamming car doors, and talking. And then there are trains and more trains! The hotel is one building from a railroad crossing, so we listened to trains blowing their horn eight times every half hour throughout the night. That's the reason we ask for a room on the back side. The continental breakfast consisted of bread, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, and coffee. The place was clean except for a black hair in the bathtub. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels.
It was clean.
ShannonA_NEon 22/03/2016 16:25If cleanliness is your only criteria, definitely stay here. It was a bit older, but the beds were comfortable, pillows not so much. I thought it was overpriced at $94. Could have stayed at a nicer chain hotel for only $5 more, but they were booked. The breakfast was only continental so we went out. The young lady at the front desk was very helpful and did a great job!
