Decent but could be a lot better
joesD7955FGon 11/08/2016 07:41The stay was very warm and welcome but I had a few issues. One of which was the attitude of the lady at the front of the lobby. Second was House keepers looked like a ragged mess. But there was one thing that my stay enjoyable and that was the nice maintenance man that was working on the wifi and really helped me feel at home.
Cheap, but not as bad as it seems
SophieBlue123on 29/06/2016 05:15When I got to Battle Mountain, I found out that there were no rooms left in Elko at all, and the only hotel with rooms in BM were at the Royal Inn. The clerk at the other hotel seemed to indicate that it would be better to sleep in my car than at Royal. But I really needed to sleep, so I tried Royal Inn after all. It's pretty rundown, the carpets in the hall are stained, and the side doors were kept propped open with some indication of some shady business going on at the hotel. But gritting my teeth, I got a room for $61 and went to my room, locking the door with the deadbolt and chain lock. I was encouraged by the presence of a fleet of construction trucks there, indicating that it was being used by working people. The fact that they start breakfast at 5 a.m. seems to substantiate this.
Interestingly, the room was clean and had all the standard amenities--coffee pot, fridge, soap/shampoo/lotion (low quality, but in a pinch...). The wifi was weak and spotty, but the air conditioner worked well. The bed was hard, but the pillows were actually quite good. The bedspread was a well-washed quilt, and the sheets were cotton or mostly cotton. I am VERY sensitive to noise, but with the air conditioner and the hotel's relative isolation (it's a long way from the interstate), there wasn't much noise at all. A couple of trains went by.
I've had worse stays at Comfort Inns and other inexpensive hotels that cost $40 more than this one. So I guess my sense is that this isn't nearly as scary as some folks might think.
A good place to stay
travellerde33on 25/06/2016 03:20Very friendly and helpful receptionist. The Location is a more quiet one away from the highway. The rooms are equipped with TV, Refrigerator and Microwave. Bathroom and shower article are present. The room was clean, roomy and comfortable. The low price includes a free Continental Breakfast. Overall a good opportunity to get some rest during a longer trip.
If you're considering this place, just move on.
AMVeeon 28/04/2015 07:54Absolutely disgusting. Shower appeared never to have been cleaned. It was smelly, "clean" towels were covered in hair. No. Just no. So many disappointments, I could barely begin to cover them all. There WAS a pool at one time, but instead of maintaining it or filling it in, it's covered with a tarp and collects rainfall. Just goes to show you what kind of pride the owners take in this place. :-P

kddid28on 30/04/2014 07:10I have stayed in lots of hotels and this place was the worst! I almost left! Stunk..smoke alarm beeped all night! Was afraid to walk on carpet without my shoes! If I ever have to stay in Battle Mountain again I will sleep in my car if they are the only room available!
