1 night for a ball tournament
William Hon 08/07/2017 12:20I'm very picky. But my room was clean and didn't stink. So for 72 dollars for my stay I actually was pleased. Pool closed at 8 and motel is older but they have updated rooms somewhat. I just left holiday inn express in charleston 2 days ago. Of course it was nicer but had bad first day there with my room. But my room and bed here was clean and didn't stink at all. So it did the job for the nigjt.
Pet Friendly hidden gem
Kathy Gon 17/04/2017 19:14Great costumer service, clean rooms- NO CARPET! No frills but good safe room. Grassy area for dogs. No extra fees for pet. Directly behind Kmart. You will pay at least $10-$20 dollars more right across the street ( where they have carpet).
Oh and happily gives Military discount!
Excellent value
GerryCampbell928on 04/03/2017 00:58Front deck was courteous and helpful. Room was clean, well appointed and had extras like a mini fridge & love seat for a rate of under $50.00. King bed was very comfortable. Only negative is that some items need upgrading like the chair, sink and ceilings.
Well located in the lovely little city of Sumter. There is a very nice dog park on N Pike W off of highway 76
This motel is well worth the price charged. I always choose Red Roof because of their pet policy.
DO NOT STAY HERE
Valerie Hon 06/10/2016 18:14What the hotel website does not tell you is that the property is in the middle of an apparent rehab. This rehab is probably one of the most poorly executed projects that I have ever seen. Despite having 2 very distinctly separate buildings, the rooms that are being updated apparently have no rhyme or reason and both buildings are being updated at the same time.
The room we stayed in appeared to be "partially" updated as it had newer bathroom tile and newer wood floors. But, the refrigerator and microwave and all of the furniture were very worn and absolutely FILTHY (see photos). The bed was quite comfortable and appeared clean so I'm assuming that the bed itself has been updated, as well as the wall lighting. But I would guess the room is about half way updated given it's overall condition and yet it wasn't cleaned very well at all. The smell of mold was overwhelming, the refrigerator contained items left behind by the previous guest, the sink and tub were both unclean, etc.
The grounds themselves were a disaster. There was construction debris everywhere, old furniture, finishes and fixtures... old bath tubs and just TRASH were just strewn all around the property.
The hotel description lists iron, iron board and hair dryer as included amenities -- be prepared to bring your own as the iron/iron boards do not exist in the rooms and the hair dryer is so old it barely blows air, let alone enough to dry your hair. The pool is noted as being open thru September and despite nearly 90 degree weather, it was already closed when we checked in on 9/30 and was in such disgusting condition (mold/mildew and murky water).
I was in town for a 30 year class reunion with a very busy schedule of events for the weekend and it was difficult to find alternate arrangements that permitted pets -- or we would have never stayed at this hotel -- even if it were offered for FREE. I've stayed at Red Roof Inns before and have NEVER been so disappointed as I am with this location!
The photos provided by the management are VERY misleading so please do not be misled, I was embarrassed when my family stopped by for a brief visit. Completely and totally embarrassed by the condition of this hotel!
I was there for 10 minutes it was so bad.
Liam Hon 17/03/2016 02:33It smelled like cigarette and mary jane smoke, it wasn't smoke free and had no air fresheners. The bath tub was filled with dust and what appeared to be ash.Which gave me an uneasy experience, the washrooms also smelt like old urine. There also blood on a counter in one of the rooms. Whatever you do don't stay here.
