Excellent value and helpful staff keep me returning.
O8996ASpaulvon 03/07/2017 23:06I stay at this hotel 2 or 3 times per month. I'm not a fussy guest, but I don't hesitate to ask for exactly what I want either. The efforts of the front desk and the friendly housekeeping staff keep me returning. The hotel has 5 keyed entrances, so it's easy to park near your room (I hate schlepping luggage through a lobby). I don't smoke, but sometimes I have to take a smoking room because occupancy is tight, but I don't notice a smoke smell.
Smoking Room - not what I reserved
Ken Eon 25/06/2017 17:24I was very disappointed with this stay! The rate might be reasonable for a room, but I reserved a non-smoking room with one queen sized bed. We got 2 double beds in the smoking wing. The room had one chair in it. Generally the room was in degraded condition. Housekeeper knocked on the door and we were still using the room, then apparently thought we did not want the room cleaned. Not a real big deal because luckily we grabbed some coffee off her cart for the next day.
The breakfast is included but very minimal for continental style. No fruit at all. Not enough space to eat given the size of the place.
We are planning to look at a different place next time we are back, which is usually a few times a year.
Not so good the second time
hoz49on 23/12/2016 12:20Stayed 2 nights for my mother in laws funeral. I was surprised to find prices had almost doubled since I stayed here about one year ago. Painting of the hall going on. The "painter", who was done for the weekend, left his masking tape on, making the place look crummy and unprofessional. Room was clean enough but the sheets had a "crumpled" look...like maybe someone had already slept in them.
The capper (krapper?) happened when I went out to visit the funeral home I slipped and fell flat on my back at the front door. GLARE ICE, no sand, no salt no nothing had been laid down. I literally had to crawl back into the lobby before the night clerk eventually noticed there was a problem and he came to help me up.
Though shaken I eventually made it to the wake. That evening when I returned my left knee was swollen. The clerk gave me some aspirin and I put ice in a ziplock bag to ice it down. The only working ice maker was on the 1st floor BTW, and my room was on the third.
Next morning the manager didn't seem phased that I slipped, fell and twisted my knee at his front door. True, bad weather had stricken the whole midwest, but this is HIS hotel and his baby. Something a little more than "Yeah...a lot of people are slipping around right now" would have been appreciated.
We made it through the weekend and now a week later my knee still has a twinge when I walk.
Sadly unclean and a bit sketchy
LynnBethon 01/10/2016 05:46We were moving across the country and needed a pet friendly hotel for a night as we passed through St. Louis. America's Best Value Inn was found online by my husband that morning. When we arrived I waited in the car while he checked us in and I observed several cars speeding through the parking lot, very loud music and several guys dancing to it in the side lot and what looked like 2 men picking up tightly clothed escorts. By this time my husband had us checked in and we were very tired. Reluctantly we went to our room which had definitely not been cleaned well to say it lightly. The tub floor was sticky, there was reddish brown slight splatter on the shower walls, the microwave and hairdryer had splatter of some sort on them, there were hairs in the bed and the carpet appeared to have not been vacuumed. I could go on about the room but I will tell you a bit about the hallway instead. There were signs about wet paint so it seems they were working on improving the appearance but again it just felt unclean and there was a lot of wear and tear showing. We slept as best,we could and got out of there as soon as we could right after the sun came up. If you need pet friendly try the My Place hotel chain. We stayed in three My Place hotels on this trip and they were all very clean with friendly staff. I highly recommend them!!!
Just say no....
Erika Hon 05/07/2016 03:07This made our third stay here while attending STL Cardinal games. First time we stayed, it was "OK".. We saved money so it was a case of you get what you pay for. Second time, the room wasn't very clean. This time- oh my stars! Had to wait like 15 minutes before anyone came to service desk. We was given a key to a room- we opened the door and it had not been cleaned since the last people stayed in it- bed tore up, towels all over floor. We went down and was given another room. The bed was comfortable but the comforter had burn holes in it. Also the people staying there where noisy, drinking and slamming doors. The area is kind of scary and at this point, I would rather pay more than stay here again.
