Exactly what I needed!
Ray Hon 05/06/2017 15:09Was traveling through, and needed a clean, inexpensive place to stay. This place was PERFECT. The room was clean, the staff was friendly. There is nothing FANCY about the hotel. It's a nice, great place to crash for a night. The free breakfast is pretty standard.
Very nice independent hotel
Kwalabatuon 27/04/2017 04:25Easy reservations by phone- you speak to the front desk, not some call center somewhere.
Pleasant, clean and comfortable, with nice big rooms.
The desk manager was very helpful and courteous. Great interstate 70 stop west of St Louis.
Second stay not as good as first stay, won't be back
MCook215on 10/03/2017 02:01On a trip back from St. Louis we decided we couldn't make it any farther and needed a good night's sleep to finish our trip. We had stayed at this hotel previously and was very happy with our previous stay so we decided to stop for the night. The front desk was very curt to my husband when she checked him in. According to her during our last stay we had damaged something, but was not charged for it. We assured her there must be some mistake because we didn't damage anything. We asked what specifically, she didn't know. She explained that there would be a thorough inspection of our room after we left and if anything was damaged THIS time we would be charged a steep fee and asked not to return. I was appalled. So when we got into our room I felt it necessary to take my own before pics then as we left we took after pics, just to cover ourselves. I don't think you should have to do that when you know you have never damaged a hotel room in your life. But whatever. The room was small as before, but it served it's purpose. The room was dingy and out dated, even though the last time we were there they claimed it was being updated and remodeled. The bathroom was very small, but again served it's purpose. The only thing new in the room was the bedding. We went down for breakfast and boy was that a serious disappointment. Not only was the area just dirty, but it was also very sparse and small. The cereal containers were almost empty. There was a stale muffin and a very sad piece of bread I'm guessing for toast. The waffle machine had two cups of batter. So my husband made a waffle and I attempted a bowl of cereal. It's sad when the cereal is better than a waffle. The waffle was rubbery and had no flavor whatsoever. When we checked out we were not offered an itemized receipt and the lady was just very cold and curt during the exchange. Overall the hotel itself is not terrible. It's affordable when you need a place to lay your head. Just don't expect anything fancy and definitely expect to eat something elsewhere. I won't say don't stay here, but I will say that you should not have high expectations. That being said, we won't be back. I didn't appreciate the accusations and it made the stay unpleasant.
Perfect for price
rsmarryon 29/12/2016 15:14Great experience again. There were not too many people due to the slow traveling season. so it was very quiet which I like. Clean room, comfortable bed and friendly staff that 's all I look for. I get those every time. Most affordable price in the area. I would stay here in the future when I am in the area.
Good value
BobFromVAon 23/12/2016 15:22I was just looking for a place to sleep for the night on a long solo drive. It seemed safe and parking well lit. The lot was uneven with ice in the low spots, and bit icy patch near the side entrance everyone would use from the parking area.
Check in went fine. The clerk was interrupted by a phone call from someone booking a room and asking for directions, unable to understand him even though I didn't think his English seemed pretty clear to me. He finally got her phone number to call her back so he could finish checking me in, which I appreciated.
The hall seemed a bit musty but the room was ok. Very dated. Old style TV. Lots of grout and spackle or whatever on the walls to cover up stuff. Tiny bathroom but things worked fine and the shower pressure was strong. Seems like all those old hotels have outlets that barely even hold in an electrical plug, but it held enough to keep my phone charged. Wifi was fast and reliable.
My biggest complaint was the bed. It really wasn't very comfortable. It almost felt like sleeping on a box spring. But I was tired enough and still slept fairly well so maybe it wasn't that bad. There were only a few cars in the lot and it was dead quiet, but I don't know that I had anyone next door or above me.
Breakfast was pretty meager, with cereal and some breadstuffs and a waffle iron, but I just wanted a quick bite and go. I saw a thermometer in the mini fridge with the milk and it looked like it read in the mid 40s but the milk smelled fine so maybe I misread.
I'd almost go 3* because of the bed, but the rest was just fine for $47.
