What People are saying

Redone, but still budget

MBGGEon 29/07/2017 22:22

Rooms have been totally redone: paint, carpet, mattresses, tv, fridge/micro, sink, even new toilet:). Very comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was decent. Despite the remodel, it still has a "budget motel" feel. We arrived late at night and atmosphere was a little shady(including some of the people). But if you need to save money, this place is clean and adequate!! For me, I would probably try somewhere else before returning. Staff is very friendly and they are obviously trying to improve the motel.

Great Value

On this trip, I've been going to the cheapest motels I could find. Most of them were pretty standard. This place is inexpensive and one of the most beautiful motels I have ever stayed at. Although there was no microwave, it had a mini-fridge, large flat TV, coffee maker, etc. they also have an indoor pool and hot tub and that's where I'm headed right now. Good value for the money.

Nice motel

We stayed here two years ago and recently we stayed there again on our trip in the US. It's a nice motel with good rooms and breakfast. There is also a pool in the motel, glass-covered. There is a vending machine in the reception if you need water for instance. There are some restaurants around so there will be somewhere to eat within a walking distance, Reasonable hotel-rate. There is also free wifi, no computers to use in the reception,

I love this place

Phidippides26on 01/07/2017 17:00

I'm a petsitter, and sometimes have a day or two between gigs when I want to get some writing done and don't want to impose on friends, so I find a local hotel or motel in which to stay. Lamplighter is one of my two favorites. The staff are lovely and friendly and approachable. The room is clean and comfortable with all the necessities: fridge and microwave and plugs for charging all the stuff. And the bed is clean and comfortable.

But the thing I like best is what's not immediately evident, and that's the care they've taken to reduce waste and be efficient with energy and water – which means I'm not paying for everyone's AC to be on when they are out of the room, or when the room is without a guest, and the impact on the environment is less – which some of us care about. They have low-flow toilets that work great. They have sensors in the rooms that will turn off the lights and AC if you've left the room and left them on. They have both trash and recycling baskets in the room. And they have LED bulbs everywhere (that don't flicker). There is a reason that they are one of the most affordable and cleanest places in town: they mind their expenses.

When I traveled in Europe over a decade ago, most of the hotels had some way of cutting off electricity when you left the room, and lights in the hallways were on motion sensors, so they weren't on when they weren't needed. It's taken forever for American hotels to catch up – we seem to equate waste with luxury over here for some reason – but some are taking steps to do so.

The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that the AC was not as effective when it was hot out, though it cooled things off very well during the night.

Comfortable

Room was adequate, bed was comfy as were the pillows, AC, hmmmm, that turned itself off after a few hours during the night, coffee machine, fridge, microwave all in the room, breakfast was very good, nice selection, staff were friendly, didn't use the pool or the hot tub, but they both looked ok, clean.
