However, this particular hotel is going through a transition and the quality just wasn't there. I'm sure they will sort it out before too long but in the meantime, well, I'm sorry to say I really can't recommend it as is.
The staff was VERY helpful and friendly. They patiently took us through 3 different rooms before we found one that didn't have a strong mildew smell. (They are in the process of replacing the old air conditioners) But all that friendliness can't make up for aging facilities. It wasn't dirty - just worn out. No hotel room is flawless but the list of things was pretty long. I've had $20 a night and $200 a night stays and I know what to expect for a price point. If you can get a really good deal on a room here, fine. But for now (and again, I really do hate to say it) the current value just doesn't stack up to competitors.
Convenience and friendliness
Francis Mon 03/08/2017 23:48A simple, straightforward hotel with basic amenities, the AmericInn was perfect for a solo traveler on a few days of business. It is conveniently located right off of I-80, with a grocery store and gas station at the bottom of the hill. The breakfast was simple but good, and again conveniently timed, serving till 10 a.m.
The "fitness center" leaves a little to be desired, bearing only a single treadmill and couple of other cardio machines, but no air conditioning, making for quite the warm small space.
The staff, however, was first rate. Josh behind the desk was on top of every concern with suggestions and solutions throughout my stay. They could not have been more courteous and helpful throughout, from check-in to check out. For them, alone, I'd easily consider another stay here if travel takes me that way.
The room, itself, was fine and mostly comfortable enough, though felt somewhat humid/damp at times: not the most shocking for the time of year. May not be the most comfortable for a family or romantic getaway, but quite satisfactory for a short stay and a comfortable place to sleep while traveling for work.
Convenient, Good Value
Linda Con 29/07/2017 23:15Great location for an overnight stay.. close to shopping, grocery, gas station, restaurants.. comfortable, safe, large rooms.. we liked the first floor room for accessibility and ease of moving in & moving out of the room.. good qualify towels.. along with a nice breakfast selection and a free newspaper!
Comfortable Stay for a Decent Price
Scott Eon 30/06/2017 23:51For a budget price, it was surprisingly ok. We had no trouble with check in. The room was clean and cool when we arrived. The breakfast had more options than other budget hotels (including flavorings for the coffee). The staff was competent. The only bad part of our stay was the coffee. It was bad, but maybe it was just a bad day.
Disappointing
run4roses2005on 27/06/2017 20:11This place was ok at best. I refrained from a review and notified the front desk of issues. But I feel now a review is a must. The hotel is under new management for a reason. My room was set up and size was ok but that is about it. The bed spread had a burn hole in it, the refrigerator hadn't been defrosted in weeks, the lighting was dim, the bath took forever to fill. The curtain had mold on the bottom of it. I stayed because I driven 8 hours and was only staying overnight. I took pictures before I left of all the issues and notified the front desk. Now 5 days later I am being charges an incidental for something that didn't happen. I believe its run a little shady and the staff needs to be reviewed. I will not stay here again in fact there are plenty of hotels not to far away that will get my business. I have call corporate so we will see what happens. The below ask about WiFi it says it has it but I was never explained how to get it or a passcode. My not sure on the housekeeping is based on the room not cleaned well and the incidental charge.
