When we arrived Danaa greeted me and quickly and politely located our reservation and provided keys and location of our room. I thought the price was higher than expected and she asked to see my booking information. When I returned to the front desk Danaa Burger reviewed my anticipated charges and was able to give us a discount for staying for the full week. I was extremely pleased with her friendliness and assistance. Thank you for your great service, it is greatly appreciated.

Decent hotel

We have stayed here frequently when we are in town. Decent hotel. There is an average breakfast in the morning with the usual variety of options. The beds and pillows tend to very hard and uncomfortable for my taste. I will say, however, we stayed in a suite this past visit and really liked it. Much more room to move around with doors that close off the front room. We will choose that type of room again. Customer service has always been good. Room was clean.

Kudos with an exception

Kudos to Penny, Neil and the majority of the staff that, once again, made the stay at this AmericInn enjoyable. Our family, seven rooms, stayed 3-4 nights. The staff were all smiles, kind and helpful. However, one employee (Tyler) fell flat on the job. On Saturday morning (10th), there was no coffee ready nor any napkins, knives, etc to be found. Then, again, at 6 AM on Monday morning, June 12th, the coffee was certainly the previous night's as it was barely lukewarm (both pots). There wasn't ANY breakfast food items out until after 6:20. There were no coffee cups or cups for the waffle maker batter. Usually, this would not have been much of a problem but there were several of my family and others who were wanting to eat and check out early. Additionally, the rooms were neat, clean and quiet. We were close to the front desk and hardly ever heard any hallway noise, etc which is rare in most motels. We have stayed at this motel four times in the past and would certainly do so again.

Staff was friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable and the breakfast area was roomy.
We were in town for a family reunion and other family members were staying there too. We gathered for breakfast and the staff was very accommodating.

Made to feel unwelcome from time I stepped up to the front desk

For both business and personal travel, I have stayed in hundreds of hotels. This was one of the worst experiences I've had. Perhaps the lady behind the front desk was having a bad weekend but that's my only caveat. I arrived in a great mood for a wedding in Muscatine and got to the hotel around 1:30 pm. When I stepped up to the front desk the manager was clearly bothered that I had arrived before the 3:00 pm check-in time. Despite quickly acquiescing to her demand that I pay extra for early check-in, she went on to tell me how I should have given advance notice as I was interrupting the time she needed to prepare rooms and manage the hotel. She told me I was rude so I apologized. When I checked out and the interim times when I returned to the hotel, I received no thank-you's for staying at the hotel, no welcome back's, and an obvious opposite to a smile. I'm hoping it was just a bad weekend as the rooms and facilities are fine--same as other AmericInn's. When national customer relations asked about my stay I told them my disappointment and they seemed to put the blame on the individual franchisee owner. They said it's the owner who sets how strict the rules are around early check-in and is responsible for how much work is placed on the general managers.
