Pleasant, quiet, simple accomodation.
Pmj81on 21/07/2017 05:57A business trip brought me to Solothurn for two weeks and this pleasant, quiet hotel was available for the duration. The hotel occupies a quaint old building with an interesting history. The rooms have been converted to hotel rooms with in-room toilet and shower facilities. Reviews should be understood by cultural differences. By US standards the room was small and Spartan, but typical of small towns in Europe. Similarly the thin mattress and limited bedding was typical of non-urban EU but not what is expected by US travelers. I found the breakfast very good, with freshly boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, and a variety of breads and fruits. The staff freshened the room daily and was both friendly and helpful. A small refrigerator provided a complementary beer after work.
Wonderful Hotel with a great location
PaulBanff_Albertaon 13/03/2017 22:16We have nothing but praise for this historic hotel after spending 5 nights there. The location is ideal, a 10 min. walk from the train station and just accross the river from the center of the lovliest baroque town in Switzerland. All the rooms are facing the river with swans and ducks swimming by, and as an added bonus, our room was a corner unit (107) with fabulous views of the majestic cathedral St. Ursen (especially beautiful when lit up at night). Contrary to some comments posted, we found that the washroom was very functional, modern and well appointed - a great solution and design for an old historic building.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is abundant and of great quality. We also had supper in house several times and enjoyed the creative local cuisine very much. The complimentary coffee, tea, water, soft drinks, beer and fruits are unheard of in the industry and VERY generous.
Overall a great and very uniquie hotel we highly recommend.
Not your typical hotel and we loved it
Ronald Don 09/12/2016 02:34I stayed here with my wife and two teenage boys. Had to get two rooms but wanted the experience of this neat lodging. We enjoyed the location: short walk to the train station and short walk to old town Solothurn. The free cold beverages in the refrigerator were a nice touch. The rooms were comfortable with a nice view of the river
Short business trip
Paul Gon 03/12/2016 13:37Stay here regularly for short business trips. Likes-view of the river and old town and the free beer (I kid you not!) Dislikes-close to the railway bridge which is in use through the night. That side it is one of my favourite hotels in Solothurn.

service is very good and people are very kind. Rooms are clean and modern, facing the river. Just try to avoid a couple of small rooms that face to the internal courtyard.
Breakfast is also good
