What People are saying

Terribly uncomfortable

macatak6on 18/04/2017 17:34

This room was advertised as a bed and breakfast. The breakfast was not included in the room rate but was an additional fee. There was no coffee in the room. But you could order it for an additional fee.
The shower was VERY small. The water was hot though. The plumbing made very loud noises whenever water was run, either in our room or the room next door .
The bed was very hard which made it difficult to sleep . The only chairs to sit in to view the TV were also very hard. So needless to say there wasn't a comfortable place to relax after walking several miles visiting all the amazing sites in Rome.
It seems that all the keys work in any door. Our first night we had an unexpected unwanted visitor, another guest opened the wrong room.
NOT RECOMMENDED

Great location but average room

Great price and great location. These two are enough to recommend this (€40 per night next to the Vatican). The room itself was nice and clean with average bathroom. The building itself was quite poor and quite old and also very narrow (a very small lift). While the location was good for restaurants and shops, it was also very noisy especially early in the morning. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast as this was just a voucher for a nearby cafe and only included a croissant and coffee. Parking was only street parking but luckily it was no problem to find a parking space. Overall, for the money and location then very good if you only plan to sleep there and not much else.

Good location

We stayed at the Ancient romance b&bfor 3 days the first 2 nights we had no hot water and the shower hose was leaking very bad so for the first 2 nights we was not able to take a shower. The hotel finally fixed the hose on the last night of our stay. The water still did not get hot only luke warm. Also the room was in a shared apartment. The breakfast was not as described only some croissants, yoghurt and few other items no meat or cheese. The room was clean.

very disappointing

we were fooled being first time travellers in Rome and stayed in Ancient romance. They got a very beautiful advert to attract customers but in reality it is not....too good to be true....the room were not impressive, the food, only voucher is given, had to get out of the building about 3 minute walk and will only give one small cup of coffee and one small croissant and if we want a proper breakfast, we had to pay additional. We have ask the staff but he said they don't serve breakfast for some reason that is not reasonable. our 299 euros paid on this is a big waste of money. We want a compensation for this because it is really frustrating. And if we cancelled they demand us to pay the entire fees. This should be warned by the Italian authorities because they fool customers especially foreigners.

Only one of the B's

When our shuttle bus dropped us off around the corner and told us "it's just around there" we thought the there would be a sign telling us exactly where. When we turned around the corner there was no signs only a shop with a massive door with no signage. I then had to google images of the front the the B&B to see if we could locate it. There was no such images. When we finally looked closer at the massive door there were buttons that could be pressed like your entering and office block with different offices mixed with B&B's. To say the lift going up was primitive is an understatement. We were then met by a lady who took us through a door into a kind of reception area. She then proceed to tells us that the B&B we were in was not giving us breakfast so we only got one of the B's. When booking this we never had any option to not have a breakfast and thought that a bed and breakfast was standard in a bed and breakfast. :) Our room was room 2 looking out on the main street which had a small AC unit which you had to have on due to the heat but could not keep it on at night as the amount of noise it made. So you will have the choice be hot or have no sleep. The noise from the street was not too bad a few police cars going past but not too much noise apart from the restaurant below but this noise stopped quite early. The location of the B&B is good but only for the Vatican. As this is only one of the many good things to see in Rome being closer to this made a 25 minute walk to get anywhere else annoying each day. I would recommend staying the other side of the river maybe around more towards the trevi fountain as this is a better location for exploring. Hope this helps someone.
