What People are saying

Excellent holiday - highly recommended

Philip Bon 23/08/2017 14:29

Just half way through a 2 week holiday, have to day this is a lovely place to stay in Lagos. Arrived 11am Wednesday by private transfer (more below about that), rooms not ready as guests still checking out, but staff did their best to get one ready asap and we spent a pleasant hour by and in the massive 50m pool. Loads of space and free sunbeds.

Room ready by 1230. Pleasantly surprised by the accommodation. One bedroom apartment, air con in bedroom and lounge/kitchen. Small outdoor courtyard and upper deck terrace... If you're brave enough to sit up there in the heat of the day, but nice to watch sun go down. All amenities in apartment looked newly refurbished. Linen changed 3 times per week. We ate breakfast at hotel a few times, decent value at 6 euros, but eventually did our own in the apartment.

Ate at the restaurant a few times when feeling lazy. Decent value food and wine, though service slowish. There is a buffet alternative but the choice is limited.

In main we walked out to the old town (20 mins walk away) which has great atmosphere and although more pricey than closer by there is loads of choice of places to eat. We're now looking at restaurants closer which have great reviews.

Plenty of activities bookable down on the river front or online. Recommend the gorge boat trips and the tukano tuktuk early on to get your bearings.

Looking forward to the next week of the holiday. Would come here again.

Tip. Our travel agent booked us a private transfer which was not much more than a coach transfer and saved us a couple of hours each way. Great arriving in style in a black Mercedes with leather seats!

Great place. A solid 3* star rating.

One week into a 2 week stay and we're loving it.
The little villas are great. Basic but perfectly adequate. Little kitchenette that we use for breakfasts and snacks, wouldn't cook an evening meal in it, but why would you want to when there are good reasonably restaurants around.
Each villa has its own private roof top terrace.

The pool is huge! A proper Olympic sized pool that never gets crowded. The grounds around the pool are plentiful so you never have to be close to anyone if you don't want to be. Lots of sunbeds available at all times of the day. Fixed umbrellas around the pool and plenty of trees offering shade on the grasses areas.

We've eaten in he restaurant for buffet breakfast. Not a huge choice but fine for €6 and you won't leave hungry.
Dinner we've had twice and it was good value for money. The staff are nice but sometimes you'll wait a while for your dinner. Ok if you want a lazy night in.
On the whole it's fine and fairly good value for money.
Snack bar does your standard stuff and it's nice.

It's a 20 min walk to the old town, where you'll find loads of restaurants and it's a lovely atmosphere. Lots of gift shops that actually sell really nice things at good prices.

Quite a few local restaurants as well.

Pool towels are available.

Local supermarkets are close by.

Rooms cleaned every 3rd day.

All in all I'd highly recommend this place.

We Will return!

This Motel/hotel is so good. You stay in a small appartment and have the pool only 25m away. For every appartment you have your own personal terrace one on the roof and the other on the ground. Also you can have your rental car parked outside of your front door.

Average motel

Nice and peaceful as the rooms are separate and the pool isn't far away from the rooms either. The restaurant is mid-range compared to the ones in the town. Not too far from the beach but you can't get a view from the rooms. It could be better but it was really good and I enjoyed my stay.

Algarve holiday break

I went to Lagos with my girlfriend for 5 nights. Lagos is a great place to stay if you want to spend some time in the Algarve. This region is beautiful and so is the weather. Lagos is an old fishing town, about an hour's drive from the airport in Faro. It's not too touristic but you can find all you need from small shops to big stores, bars and restaurants.
The Ancora park was a great place to stay. The 'room' was a small bungalow, but very spacious for 2 people. There was a small kitchen (fridge, 2 electric fires, microwave,...) and a place to sit outside. You can even take the stairs to you own private rooftop balcony. There is free wifi at the reception, and you can 'buy' 7days of internet for 10€ in your room. Also the swimming pool is huge (8 lanes of ± 50m) and there are 3 different beautiful beaches nearby in a 10 -15 min walk. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. We rented a car for 3 days (just had to ask at the reception and the next day the car is waiting for you there). Although we chose the cheapest category, we got an almost new Renault Clio, with airconditioning and everything (81€ for the 3 days).
I can't say anything about the restaurant, because we never went there. (We cooked for ourselves or we went to the restaurants in town).
The only remark I could give is that, apparently, the cleaning service does not work in the weekends. We arrived Thursday and Friday our room was cleaned, the beds were made etc.., Saterday and Sunday this did not happen, but Monday our room was cleaned again. This didn't really matter anymore since we left early Tuesday morning. We didn't really bother, but perhaps some other travellers might.
Anyway, it's a great place to stay and discover the southern region of Portugal.
