The Location Decision
The_Made_Guyon 28/08/2017 08:51There are already so many reviews here that comprehensively discuss the hotel rooms, breakfast etc, so I thought I would focus on two specific aspects - the hotel's location, and its Spa/Wellness facility.
LOCATION: The hotel is around 3.5 kilometres east from Alexanderplatz. A tram outside the front of the hotel takes you there in 15 minutes. To the restaurants and bars around Hackescher Market is about 20 minutes. I was under the impression that the trams operated all night - the M5/M6 trams to Andel's ceased at about 12.30am, so factor in a taxi fare if wanting to stay out late. If you're someone who likes to walk out of your hotel and have a large choice of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, this probably isn't the hotel for you. If you're happy to take public transport to do sightseeing during the day, then come back to the hotel to shower etc, then use public transport again to go and return from a restaurant, then it will be fine. After four or five days of the latter, it started to wear me down.
SPA: The spa/wellness facility and gymnasium is top-class and very high quality, but seems to be under-utilised by hotel guests. In the spa facility, there are two saunas (the geothermal sauna is 60C, and the Finnish sauna is 90C), a steam bath, jacuzzi, foot baths, an indoor relaxation area, and an outside terrace with lounge chairs. The sauna, steam baths and jacuzzi are "textile-free" ie. nude (but if you wanted to wrap a towel around yourself in the sauna this might be acceptable?), so you need to be prepared for that sight and experience. Is this the reason for the very low usage of the Wellness Centre by (foreign) hotel guests? Maybe the Wellness Centre isn't promoted strongly enough as a FREE facility for hotel guests - in the foyer they do promote its massage services (at a cost) but maybe people confuse the Wellness Centre as having a usage cost too? Either way, it was disappointing to see such a high-quality facility under-utilised during my time there, although it meant I had a lot of freedom and space for myself :)
Absolutely amazing!
vintagegirl4on 24/08/2017 02:45I stayed here for three days and two nights. The wifi was good. This place is HUGE! The lobby is beautifully designed and spacious. My family had a great game night there. Dinner was great but breakfast was very limited. The room was great and cozy. The hallways are very long and felt like a maze. Wished there were more elevators closer to our room. The sky lounge is cool. It can only be reached by the elevator near the mavericks restaurant. They also have a souvenir shop in the lobby, but we always saw it closed so it must have limited hours. The metro is right in front of the hotel. Just a few stops from the center. The staff is really friendly and helpful. There's also a fitness room and spa.

We were very pleased with the location and its excellent transport links to the centre with the S-train about 200m from the hotel and the Tram stop directly opposite. Our room was large comfortable and clean. The most comfortable bed and the best nights sleep I have had in a hotel. Tea and coffee making facilities were very welcome. A lovely modern bathroom with bath and shower. The Sky Bar offers a spectacular view of the city skyline with a great selection of cocktails.
Breakfast was included and it had a great choice of hot and cold items lovely fresh bread rolls and pastries.
The only issue is the surrounding area has few options for eating out but don't let that put you off staying at this hotel.
The staff in this hotel were very professional, friendly and helpful. The customer experience was their priority and they were a credit to the hotel.
Fantastic Hotel
BillB57257on 22/08/2017 20:55I spent 3 nights here earlier this month and was very impressed. Normally I stay around the Zoological Gardens area but decided to give this a try and was very glad I did.
Good room and an excellent breakfast. Fantastic transport hub literally 50 metres from the hotel door which included 3 tram lines going into the centre of town and the S Bahn with a direct link to the airport.
Nice gym and sauna too.
Overall, I will now be staying here in the future when I next visit this wonderful city.
Finally, the view from the Sky Bar was pretty impressive too.
Fantastic Modern Hotel
alianson 21/08/2017 19:54We stayed here for a few days as a base to explore all the sights of Berlin. The local transport was very handy to get around the city.
Its a very modern designed hotel with vivid colour schemes and large open areas, the breakfasts were fantastic with a large choice of food hot and cold.
If we visit Berlin again we would definitely stay here again.
