What People are saying

Nice Property but Service and Functionality is Lacking

TravelChild94on 08/05/2017 11:24

Like other travelers, there are a great many things right about Anemalou Villas --- so let me start there: Pretty space -- with natural woods and stone -- despite the sketchiness of the neighborhood in which the "villas" are located, and a stagnant river just outside of the property, the "critter management" was AMAZING: mosquito nets, electric bug zappers and the pads that emit bug-killing fog (gently) were a boon -- I didn't get ONE mosquito bite the entire time there. No other bugs bothered us either, despite the fact that there a many unsealed spaces around the exterior and interior doors. I also saw a very healthy lizard in our kitchen -- (which means he's feasting on a lot of mosquitoes as well! - smile). I've lived in developing countries and see those fellows as my friends! No rats, which I thought would be a distinct possibility, given the location of the property. Kitchen is large and comfortable; the bedroom/bathroom combination is very clever. The bed itself was very comfortable and the pillows fluffy and sleep-friendly. They also provided a large floor fan which was great for the kitchen as the A/C did not really extend well into the kitchen area and if you cooked, it got really hot in the space. The wi-fi connection was strong and reliable, which was another real plus to this property.

However, while the space itself is quite beautiful, it's not very functional: the lighting was poor -- ambiance in the bedroom is fine, but in the bathroom and kitchen area it was tough to see. Also a microwave would have really made the difference for the usefulness of the property, particularly since there is no onsite restaurant -- the included breakfast was so paltry it was funny, which prompted us to go shopping at the Carrefour just to eat a decent breakfast each morning. The delivery menu that substituted for room service came with portions so tiny they were not worth the money, (e.g., thai chicken dish: US$5; luckily I ordered 2 to have meat).

The phone did not work on an outgoing basis for half of our trip so the front desk could call us, but we could not call them. The tub/shower combination, again, while pretty, not functional: The faucet head leaked, the shower head didn't move, and the hand-held shower head sprayed water everywhere. The beautiful stone tub was carved in such a way that it would have been easy to fall on your head and crack it open if not careful. The TV setup worked intermittently, but who watches TV on vacation anyway when there's so much to see, so we just got over it. The private plunge pool in the villa did not look clean enough to use, because of all of the leafy overhang that ended up in it, so it was nice to look at, but I did not feel comfortable swimming in it.

A few changes, particularly the microwave and a safer tub, would really make this a nice space, well worth the money.

I will end this review by saying that the Balinese people, hands down, are the kindest people you'd ever meet -- they tried earnestly to be of service, but I think training on what it means to run an efficient, customer-centered tourist establishment is lacking.

Great Place to Stay!

Great spot in Seminyak.Nice villas with pool. The service is great, the staff is always here to help and very kind. The breakfast were nice with fresh fruit juices. We enjoyed the dinners we had from their menu which offers a large selection. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Anemalou / Anema Resort. The only negative point is that it is a bit far from restaurants but in a quiet area though.

Beautiful Villa ..worst food ever

SmilersBearon 14/03/2017 02:07

This is an absolutely lovely villa..but be prepared to bring your own food..It is the worst food ever..meals prepared by untrained staff..( apparently no chef) My 4 year old grand daughter cooks better. The presentation of food is terrible it is cold and tasteless..coffee cold ..After 10 visits to Bali over 10 years the food I would rate as the worst..which is a real letdown considering the beauty of the villa..would not stay again..

Superb villa. Got an amazing deal for it, service is all good too. It's near to near to Seminyak and Kuta area. However, you need to rent a bike or take taxi to get to the hotel. As the hotel is quite in a distance to walk from Seminyak area where the shops are, probably takes you are 15 to 20 minutes walk. Would definitely come here again!

3 days in Paradise

olgaolga990on 02/11/2016 16:55

We stayed only 3 days on Bali during our long trip in Indonesia.
it was just great time and wonderful place!
Our villa was located in quiet place and it was very important for us to have good rest after serfing.
Each evening we enjoyed our swimming in beautiful swimming pool and we prefered to stayed outside on huge sofa under big and cozy baldahin.
It was great, and no needs to go somewhere for dinner because there on place we had big choice of wonderful indonesian cuisine. All staff was kind and smiling to us and our portions of food were so huge and so good)

Beautiful comfortable villa, delicious national food and good relaxing massage for our tired legs,
We were totally happy in this paradise!
