The rooms are very comfortable and the service, very friendly.
I will definitely consider staying here in the future visits
Fine until the high school disco...
Thomas Son 19/08/2017 00:20The hotel is fine, nothing amazing but clean and tidy, if a little dated, and a good location. We arrived on Thursday for a four night stay, and all was well.
On returning after a day out on Friday afternoon we spotted a small notice in the elevator telling us there was some kind of party in the main function room, and that there "may be some music heard". We had dinner and headed back to our room. We saw what looked like high school graduates through an open door of the function room - most likely celebrating exam results - and good for them!
At 23:30 the music was still going; the bass in particular carries up well from the main function room beneath the courtyard up to our room on the 4th floor.
00:36 Saturday morning and the music is still pumping away. If I were at the party this would of course be totally fine, but whoever at the hotel thought this was going to be ok for all of their paying guests must have a pretty poor understanding of what people want out of a hotel. To be clear, we booked a hotel and not a nightclub. Sleep is of the utmost priority, and we have an early start tomorrow.
I'm sure you won't be as unfortunate as us and the other guests here tonight, but should you book a stay here you should be aware that you will not be the top priority whilst here.
Your experience may differ, but I was extremely disappointed by one night of selfishness by the hotel management.
Reasonable hotel
on 16/08/2017 09:30The hotel and the staff overall are lovely. We stayed for 4 nights and it was fine. Rooms are large and bathrooms modern. Few small things - the lift didn't work for us when we arrived and staff seemed confused why. Housekeeping miss small places such as behind the toilet seat and the tap in the sink were quite feral. They also say to leave your towel on the towel rack if you don't want it cleaned. There are no towel racks. We left ours hanging and they were replaced anyway. We also left on of our keys in the power slot next to the door and housekeeping took it with them after cleaning one day. Was easy to get front office to code a new one but kind of inconvenient too.
Close to public transport, shops and checkpoint Charlie. I wouldn't recommend hotel but wouldn't deter anyone from staying here either. It's okay and does the job if you're not a fussy person.
3 nights in Berlin
Michael Hon 16/08/2017 08:03Excellent Value hotel 200 meters from checkpoint Charlie. Walkable distance to all the key sights and museums. Excellent buffet breakfast. Good service overall with friendly staff. Da Vinci Restaurant serves excellent Italian food at good prices.
Pleasant location for short break
fragglerocks2015on 13/08/2017 14:26Hotel is close to U-Bahn links and just up the road from the Checkpoint Charlie pick-up point for the open-top bus tour. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby (especially Italian). Roughly 10-15 minute walk from Potsdamer Platz, where there are more shops and restaurants as well as cinemas. The on-site restaurant is very useful; service was fast and food was lovely. Room clean and relatively spacious; bathroom a bit on the small side perhaps.
