Another "But" adventure
RU4Real2on 17/08/2017 02:40I normally really enjoy staying at Candlewood Suites but this on gave me a major issue. I am a business traveler and spend 40+ weeks a year on the road. This hotel is older but well maintained. The bed is very comfortable and the television service is DirecTV which worked well except when it rained. My big issue is the internet service. I stayed in an end room on the upper floor and the internet service was very very slow. Speed check sometimes got to 2 Mbps if it worked at all and this made it very difficult to do any work via the internet. They do offer "premium" access for an additional fee but as a Spire member, I expected more. Second item - the sound from the nearby road can be loud.
Great hotel but..
DjayAbsolute Eon 14/08/2017 03:42It is conveniently located 2 miles away from ft Lee gate. There's restaurants, barbershop, grocery store, dry cleaners all within walking distance. Do not expect breakfast buffet, there is none. Great hotel, convenient location however the Wi-Fi is worst than or about the same as being down range
Wonderful Staff! Nice and Clean Hotel!!
Stephanie Mon 05/08/2017 04:21I have stayed at this hotel several times and it never disappoints! The rooms are always cozy and clean! The rooms are equipped with anything you could possibly need for either an overnight or an extended stay! Marty, Corina, and the rest of the staff always greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome. This hotel is always my first choice when staying in the area!
Very Satisfying
amsxelaon 21/04/2017 02:58I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this stay. The room was very clean, bed comfortable (a little squeaky but not unbearable), kitchen spotless. Evening desk staff (Marc) was attentive. Missed the 5/5 rating because of the smoking at the front door. I had to walk thru a cloud of toxic smoke leaving in the morning. Very offensive. Perhaps if the smoking receptacles were located away from the door, guests will follow it.
Don't Look for a Continental Breakfast Here...
teenamaisoneton 01/03/2017 17:50Hotel was in the midddle of the "strip", so really close to food and restaurants, Dollar General was in walking distance, it's about 10 minutes from Fort Lee. and about 3 minutes from Hopewell. The room had good views of the city life.
Housekeeping only came once a week, we checked in on a Sunday and Housekeeping came on Monday, we didn't need them after only one day of being there so we had our "no service" sign up. It wasn't until Wednesday that I went down stairs to find out when they would be arriving to our room again and they said not until Monday. I think a week is a long time to wait for services. I could however, bring our dirty towels downstairs to the front desk and switch them out for new ones.
We had a mini kitchenette that was fully stocked, They also offered laundry services. There was a laundry room downstairs that was convenient. However they did not offer breakfast. The closest you could get to breakfast was 3 shelves of orange juice, soda, a few sandwiches, chips and couple of other things in the laundry room. There was also a fitness room.
They offered a daily USA Today Paper(if your into reading that), The staff was super friendly. Make sure you take your room key with you if you are going to be out past 7pm, the front door locks and your need your key to access the building, otherwise there is a phone in the lobby that you have to use to call the front desk to get in the building.
Overall the room was average, could use a little bit of updating. Plenty of lights in the room though for it to be a small as it was. I'm a cold-natured person so I loved the option of having heat and a/c available in the Winter.
