The location is convenient which is a plus. It offers free parking which is also a plus, but not needed by us. The room and sheets were very clean. The breakfast was okay. I understand that the B&B is intent on providing an authentic Tuscan atmosphere but there are a few things that could greatly improve it. Have working lights over the entrance doors so one can see how to put the key in the lock after dark would be a big help. Once in the hotel the vestibule was pitch black and we had to fumble around the walls to find the light switch for the stairs. This light could be put on a motion detector! The bathroom floor and fixtures were clean but there was a growing patch of black mold on the wall in the shower- bleach is needed here and on the shower tiles. Disappointed with the amenities as well. Asked about shampoo and was told the shower gel was for both. Have been staying in multiple B&Bs in Italy and have always had better amenities and both shampoo and soap. This was not the typical welcoming environment I have experienced here. I would not stay here again.

Santa Chiara is located in the old town. Rooms are clean and big enough, staff is friendly. Parking in the garage near the location, air-conditioned rooms with big bathroom and enough space for a relaxed stay. In 50 meters diverse terraces for your drinks.

Fabulous B and B

The B and B was excellent only 5 rooms, my room no 5 was quiet, clean and well stocked. Comfy double bed, a bottle of water in the room, a fridge, safe and decorated tastefully. The location was perfect inside the walls of lucca. The breakfast was plentiful cereal, ham, cheese, cakes, juice and pastries. There is no lift the owner very kindly carried my suitcase up to my room and back down again. Thank you had a wonderful stay.

Was very disappointed but Jessica was very nice!

We had a few issues with this room. First, before we went I sent an email to ask about the air conditioning. I can not sleep when it is hot and wanted to be sure the air conditioner worked well! I was assured by Allesandra that it works very well! It did not work well at all!!! We were in Italy for three weeks and stayed at several places and at 16C it was very comfortable. This room was hot! They told me to open the windows but I didn't like the idea of doing that when there weren't screens on the windows! Another issue was I asked about the room with the balcony and was told the price and that it was for four so I invited two of my exchange students to meet me there. Then I was told for four, the room was a different price! Alesandra ended up coming down a bit on the price but that didn't seem right either. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready so we left our bags and went out. I asked for them to bring our bags to the room when it was ready since my friend was handicapped. When we got back, the bags were still downstairs! My friend had a cane and had a hard time with the stairs, never mind carrying a bag! Also, there is no one on duty at the B&B a good part of the time so if you have an issue, there is no one to go to for help. The other issue is, they give you two keys to get in and out of the room. One to open the door to the building and the other to your room. The trouble is, there were four of us and we had to ask for additional keys. The two young girls were going out on their own and would need keys when they returned. After some digging around, they came up with a set of keys for them. The other issue is, when you come in, you use the key to lock the door behind you. My friend decided to stay in the room because she was tired and if there was a fire or something, she would be locked in the building with no way out! I don't understand how this is not a fire hazard! I had to put up a fuss to get another key for her to get out in an emergency! Also, if you have four people in that room with the balcony, you can not get out and use the balcony! Jessica was the girl at the reception and she was very nice and did all she could to help us, but this was just not the right place to stay! I loved Lucca and would highly recommend it, but next time I would look to be more in the city center.

We were welcomed by Federico who was super friendly and helped us out not only with check in but also with restaurant, ice cream recommendations and helped us get tickets to Pisa.
Our room was a quadruple with a balcony that open to the patio where breakfast was served. The master area of the bedroom was big and comfortable the other side where the 2 twins were was a bit crowded but since we only slept in the room it was not an issue. Everything was clean and the bathroom was a good size and clean.
Breakfast was delicious with many home made pastries, eggs, yogurt and more, cappuccino every day can not ask for more.
Alessandra was very nice and helpful as well.
Definitely will recommend this place, it is walking distance to everything and you can rent bikes close by and access the wall to ride on it very easily.
