What People are saying

One of the best hotel experiences of our Italian holiday

Vacationee09on 13/07/2017 00:23

We stayed three nights at the Antica a few weeks ago and loved our experience. The location was central to all museums, shopping and restaurants. We were able to walk everywhere in a matter of minutes.

Our room was absolutely wonderful. It was comfortable with a large bathroom. We had a lovely view of the bridge and river. I could have stayed there for several more days.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel has a couple of wonderful balconies where you can have cocktails, dinner and breakfast. They also have a lounge with an after hours honor bar.

What we liked most was the sophisticated vibe and the warm, cozy rooms. We would recommend this hotel to all of our friends.

Fantastic hotel with great food and service

The hotel was located right in the heart of Florence and you can walk to most of the key attractions as well as the train station within 10-15 minutes. All the shops for famous brands are also located in the area. The in-house library was fantastic and has a great collection of DVD for you and your family to enjoy in the hotel room. The best thing of the hotel is the breakfast, which is absolutely heavenly. The rooftop restaurant is also fantastic. I will definitely stay in this hotel if I were to visit Florence again.

OhThat Rooftop!

We stayed at Hotel Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni in late May and loved it. The location was perfect; walking distance to just about anywhere in Florence (if you are walkers like we are). Although amidst all of the designer shops (which we do NOT frequent) the hotel and staff did not feel snobby at all. Our room was bright, clean, and lovely and the bed very comfortable. The real star of the hotel though, is the rooftop terrace serviced by the adorable, funny, and sweet Maira and Julia. We went to both Fiesole and Piazza Michelangelo for sunsets but experiencing sunsets on the hotel rooftop terraces (there are actually two of them with different views) while sipping fantastic and reasonably priced local wine overlooking the entire city and the Arno, were the most spectacular sunsets of all. Having delicious breakfasts and coffee on that terrace was like starting each day in heaven. Maira and Julia were so pleasant and interesting and obviously love their job; Who wouldn't??? We wanted to take Maira home with us!

We also loved Martina and Meeka (sp?) at the front desk who were so helpful to us with confirming our dinner reservations.

We will surely be back in beautiful Florence and hope to stay at Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni again!

Nice hotel in a great location in Florence

VAtraveler703on 27/06/2017 01:41

This was a nice, moderately-sized hotel, right near the banks of the Arno river. It is on a quiet pedestrian street with an inconspicuous entrance right next to the Dior store. While Via Tornabuoni is lined with high end shopping, it was never crowded like some of the streets nearer the area around the Duomo. It is located right off Piazza Santa Trinita, though unfortunately for us, the column in the center of the piazza was under renovation when we were there. The location is very close to all the major attractions no more than a 8-15 minute walk anywhere. I think the longest walk we had was to the Accademia, but that was more than manageable from this location as Florence is mostly flat or on a gradual incline (vs. Rome or Siena).

They have a wonderful rooftop bar and deck with views of the river on one side and views of the Duomo area on the other. Every night we were there, though, the deck that views the Arno river was booked for a private party. It would have been nice to know this in advance since it was every night of our four-night stay.

We had a classic room on the fourth floor with two beds. It was spacious enough for our needs. The beds were firm but not overly so. I was able to sleep well each night. The shutters were great for completely blocking out light in the room. We were at the end of the hall facing the street, but I didn't notice any street noise overnight. My one criticism of the room would be the shower setup. We had a room that had a bathtub with a shower wand attached to the long wall of the tub (rather than at the end), facing out toward the rest of the bathroom. The water pressure was excellent, but this proved to be a challenge with the shower. There was only a thin shower curtain that hung down to the top of the tub, so if you pointed the shower wand anywhere but the wall, you would soak the floor in the bathroom. Let me say this was not difficult to do, as I managed it twice in our four night stay. The tub was also narrow, so the shower curtain would cling to you anytime you approached it. While ultimately manageable, we were able to take much better showers at other hotels during our trip.

The breakfast served each morning was varied and delicious. Every morning they had eggs, sausage, bacon, fruits, cheeses, Italian cured meats, a variety of breads and pastries, cereals, and yogurt. They offered fresh coffee as well, but I am not a coffee drinker. Having a good and big breakfast each morning undoubtedly saved us from spending a lot on lunch.

The service at the front desk was excellent. They made two recommendations and reservations at restaurants in the city. Both restaurants were excellent as well. Hotel staff were all fairly fluent English speakers and were always very courteous and professional. They also greeted you and wished you well every day since you had to pass the front desk on the way out. We also forgot to back a plug converter and they had one available at the front desk.

LOVE Florence

This hotel was is a great location near the Ponte Vecchio and upscale shopping. It is in a Medieval Tower with a wonderful rooftop bar and fantastic views of Florence. The room was nice and spacious with a balcony overlooking Florence. Such a cool little hotel. The rooftop bar is on the honor system if the bartender isn't there. You make your drink, list the ingredients you used and put your room # and enjoy the views. They have a movie room with DVD's or you can check one out and watch it in your room. Loved this place. The staff was wonderful and great English. Hope to be able to return one day!
