You get what you paid for
Seven Won 03/11/2016 03:03We wanted a hotel near Gare Lyon. The hotel wasn't cheap, but near Metro station and walking distance to many Paris attractions.
The hotel is operated by a family. On the day we arrived, a grandmother was in the kitchen, and we waited for a few minutes till a woman checked us in. Fortunately the hotel had plenty of vacancies.
The hotel has no elevator, so it's hustle to climb up on the narrow stairs with a big suite case. Plus, stairs & hallways lights are dark even in day time. You can turn on the light, but it has timer to be turned off after a few minutes.
When we came back at night, I think there's another guest next room, but not sure the hotel had any other guests. One day the stairs/hallways were filled with the smell of spices from the kitchen. And early in the morning like 4am, someone turned on TV at the front desk. It was loud. I can imagine at the peak time (summer) you can hear all kinds of noises from other rooms.
The good thing about hotel are:
* many cheap restaurants around hotels
* walkable to Paris center
* close to Metro station
* neighborhood is nice
* nt much noise from outside even though the hotel is near major street
It's great for the price
Reza Son 26/06/2016 08:47I stayed at Hotel Anya for a week and I would definitely go there again when I am in Paris. The building is old but the room was clean and nice. The staff were extremely friendly ( I think it's a hotel run by a family). It's very cheap for Parisian standards but if you're just looking for a clean room just to sleep at the end of your day exploring Paris, then this is your place. The location is a bit far from the major touristy stuff but with Paris's transportation network that should not be a worry as there are bus and metro stations just around the corner. The hotel closes at 1am and opens again at 6am, so if you will be checking in or out at unusual hours, make sure that you let them know in advance.
Ok but needs restoration
Inso Don 07/06/2015 14:22It's ok for the price. Friendly staff, free wifi and hastle free. Good location. But staines on the blankets and broken pieces of furniture could do with some attention. A splash of paint won't hurt ither.
Too expensive for the quality
Kevin Oon 02/03/2015 18:37It was too expensive for the quality of the property. The bathroom/toliet was too small. It was more like a house that was forcely turned into a hotel. It has no elevator and the spiral staircase was scary. The only good thing about it is it is close to a Metro Station and Mcdonalds.
Avoid at all costs
retourouvreon 06/02/2015 15:08I can't actually address the hotel itself, having never laid eyes on it. I do warn, though, that it engages in shady practices amounting to robbery. I booked a reservation in August of 2013 for the following September--but when I saw it had been booked instead for 2014! I immediately cancelled. A year later, I was charged for the original reservation as if I had been a no-show. The hotel claims to have no record of my cancellation (WHY would anyone book a room a year in advance?). That the hotel, giving the largest possible benefit of the doubt, failed to make a record of my cancellation, is not my fault and should not be my problem--NOR my expense.
(Ed. this website is forcing me to name my travel dates, but does not include the dates when I actually traveled.)
