What People are saying
Small, dirty and poor service
Phuongnguyenverraon 02/07/2017 15:42We have seen APA hotel every where, so we decided to stay at APA hotel in Roppongi for our business trip in Tokyo.
First of all, the taxi driver couldn't find this hotel at the beginning. It took him half hour driving around and it gave us unsecured feeling before checking in.
We arrived around 12:00 when the check-in time is 15:00. Since we are exhausted after a long trip to Tokyo we just want a place to unload our stuff and sleep immediately, we paid extra fee of 1000 Yen per hour before 15:00.
Even with that, the room was not ready. We waited at the small reception for 30min and finally could check-in to our room. In the whole way, all of the dirty towels of every room was laying on the floor. We can barely walk to our room! Knowing that our towel will be also like that, we start to get nervous.
The room is so small that we couldn't even open out suitcase. It is quite normal in Tokyo that you get small room, but if the carpet is clean, we can accept that. The carpet in the room is sticky and smelly. The pajama looks brown even though it supposed to be white, so I didn't dare to wear it. You better prepare your own pajama if you stay at this hotel.
The next day, we have to leave at 6:30AM while the restaurant for breakfast doesn't open until 7AM. At other hotels, normally the guest will be able to get something to eat by the kitchen staff. But don't expect that at this hotel. We ended it up going to other hotel for breakfast.
The water tab in the shower room is a combined tab for sink and the tub. It is either no water coming out, or too much water coming out that is spreading all over the floor.
The hotel has the policy that if the guest does not need to change the towel, they will receive a free small bottle of water. It sounds eco-friendly, but cheap. At other hotels, you get your free water bottle sometimes two, without asking the guest to reuse the towel. I walked out to the Seven Eleven store near by and bought my bottle of water.
In the room, the table where you can put your PC to work, is too small and is full with commercial stuff from the hotel. I have to put all of them away under the table to create enough space for my PC to work.
The entire time staying here, I was counting down to check-out because it is not comfortable and stressful to stay here.
Good Value for Money
Sandra_Ankenbrandon 18/06/2017 20:57Small but conveniently located - near metro station, close to Roppongi business district as well as most sights.
Rooms are supersmall as normal in Tokyo, but actually everything you need is there: a nice spacious bed, a small table, a small bathroom with even a bathtub. TV, Kettle is provided as well and other kind of Drinks can be bought with the vending machines on each floor, also on the floor is ironing equipement.
The Bathroom as well as the room though needs definitely renovation and the cleanliness was not on a high standard.
Breakfast is okay, but not very various and I missed fresh fruit and western style dishes a bit...
Staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful!
APA Roppongi
AbeSha8on 17/05/2017 00:18The hotel is not bad.
+ Price was reasonable, My room was a good size for 1 person. ( if you are 6' tall its not the right place )
- there was a strong smell in the lobby, the pillow is not comfortable ( for what a westerners are used to ), the hotel location is a bit far from the subway station.
All in all not bad place, APA group have better hotels in Tokyo. Remember in the same area there are 2 APA hotels similar in names. Make sure you go to the right one.
Just too small
Deepa Jon 13/04/2017 13:00Don't confuse this hotel with the other, conveniently located APA in Roppongi. This one is quite far down the main Roppongi street with not much around it. You have to trudge up the Roppongi hills to get to the main Roppongi area and find a bite to eat and in the peak winter, it wasn't fun. The hotel is TINY, even by Tokyo standards. They charge extra for a slightly bigger room on the website but all the rooms are the EXACT SAME size, so don't fall for that. Only the most basic amenities of a hot water kettle and slippers were provided, that's it. There is no storage and no place for suitcases of any size. The bed was claustrophobic and bathroom even more so. It was clean and reasonably comfortable otherwise, if you are ok with the most basic hotel stay possible.
Nice Small Hotel
Raj Son 26/03/2017 18:10I stayed at this hotel for one night and I really do not have any complaints about it. The check in and check out process was fast and efficient. The rooms were clean and the hotel was reasonably priced.
The only thing I do have to say is that it is quite a walk to the restaurants and bars. This was our last night in Tokyo so I wanted to stay close to the action. Also the train station is not far at all but it was still quite a trek to cross on the over head bridges to get to the train station.
The hotel is about a 15-20 walk to the main strip of bars and restaurants.
