What People are saying

Good business hotel

Richard Zon 28/04/2016 11:30

This hotel is OK. Very close to the train station. Restaurants nearby. Good parking spots. Room was clean and complete. The staff was helpful and friendly. There was not much to do close to the hotel. Only Tonami Tulip Garden.

Month long business trip

This is an atrocious hotel! I could smell sewer gas rising through the plumbing as soon as I walked in my room. The carpet is nasty, mold is growing on the shower curtain/bathroom walls. No AC so you open the window & have to listen to the street.

Great central location

Stayed with family for 4 nights as we were meeting up with friends whose family live nearby. Great for us as right next to train station so easy to drop luggage on first day. Rooms are old but we are used to small size as had similar in Tokyo. We didn't hear any train noise like other reviews but we were on 9th floor. Did washing in coin laundry on 2nd floor. Make sure you ask for non smoking if you need as smoking floors would be unbearable. Good WiFi kept kids happy. Breakfast OK but the 7 11 was good down the road. One guy spoke enough English at reception to sort things out. Overall very happy with this hotel off the beaten track.

OK to stay for business

A bit old hotel, but LOCATION/LOCATION/LOCATION, i stayed here because of a business trip; therefore, location matters to me.

The bathroom is kinda STINK due to OLD hotel; therefore, I would not expect much, I just use my own body mist to make it smells better, but thankfully, it doesn't leak to the bed area which is GOOD enough for me.

I stayed there for 4 nights; it is not that bad. Tonami is a very small city, and this hotel is pretty handy for you to go to Toyama, Takaoka.

However, if you use US standard to look for this room size, this would be FAILED. BUT, it is very OK and acceptable in JAPAN business hotel standard.

Stayed for business - would not bring family

First of all, you have to understand, this is Japan, so rooms are expected to be small. This hotel, however, has taken small to the nth degree. Not only is the room tiny, the furniture and beds are scaled down. I am not tall (5'8") but I felt like a giant in this room. When I sat at the desk, my knees were jammed up under it.
The hotel is clean and the location is good, right next to the JR Rail station, but this is no Bullet train stop. This is rural Japan and the trains rock the entire hotel when they pass through (first time I thought it was an earthquake)
No one who works at the hotel speaks English, which surprised me. All my questions were made and answered with hand gestures. They are very helpful though. I needed a taxi every morning and 2 minutes before I needed one, one of the desk staff would run out in the rain to the station and get one to come over.
The breakfast was interesting - some American favorites (Eggs, sausages) and a lot of other stuff I had no idea but it tasted ok. Breakfast room is very small - expect to share a table with strangers.
The reason i would not bring family is the size of the rooms. I had a "double" and there is no way I would want to share this room with anyone, even my spouse, simply because there is no space. The bathroom reminded me of the bathroom on a cruise ship, where every inch is used. It was like stepping into a phone booth with a toilet, sink and bathtub.
Make sure you ask for a non-smoking room as the lower half of the floors are smoking rooms. Floors 6 upwards to 10 are smoke-free.
Air conditioning is either on or off. I was there in June and it was not super hot, but very humid. I either froze under the duvet or sweltered.
The beds are typical Japanese - mattress is as hard as a rock and so are the pillows, but I was so tired after flying from the US and traveling to the area, I would have slept on a board, which I think I did the next day
