Unexpectedly BIG!
siu won 22/06/2017 03:16You may know that hotel rooms in Japan (like Tokyo and Osaka) are quite small and could barely fit for two suitcases. BUT, this one in Tottori APA Hotel, it is unexpectedly big! We stayed in a double bed room with a bathroom, there was a sofa inside the room which you could relax on it and enjoyed the city view! This might be the biggest room I have ever stayed in Japan!
smoking smell in nonsmoking room
Shinichi Kon 15/11/2016 04:40relatively close to the Tottori station, but in the opposite side of the bus station. Booked and stayed in a "nonsmoking room", but the smell is so concentrated with cigarettes. Central air-conditioning is another nightmare with cigarette smell ventilation. Facilities are relatively old and untidy.
Great for the price for sure!

Bed was tiny for two adults but the robes and origami birds were a nice touch. Did not stay for breakfast. Had BBC news in English which was a nice for a change from Japanese.
Nice hotel in a convenient location
MunichEricJon 21/07/2016 22:48The APA Tottori is a short and pleasant walk from the station and located on a pedestrian walk along a small brook.
Check- in was fast and efficient, and the staff were friendly and supportive. I was given room 410, a classic business hotel sized room with a double bed. The fourth floor is a “Gold Floor” although it was not obvious what the “gold” difference was compared to other floors.
The day was hot so I was happy that the Aircon worked very well and cooled the room quickly. The room key is inserted into a fixture which switches on the electricity for the room, so the A/C will go off when you leave. The three desk- level outlets remain live, however, so if you are charging something, you can leave the room and they will continue charging, even though the other electricals are shut off. It’s also worth noting that the A/C was arranged to not blow on the bed, which made for a much better sleep that is a very nice touch, often overlooked by many hotels when they are planning the room layouts.
The hotel is very quiet, being located along the brook and at a cross street which is not at all busy.
The bathroom is classic business hotel and with good amenities. The bathroom has white and tan towels and different colored toothbrushes so if you are staying with someone, you won’t mix them up.
Breakfast was good, in a nice cosy room with a mix of chair and tatami mat seating.
There was a rather ugly building obstructing the view from my room. The rooms across the hallway (401 through 406) are all larger and have a nice view of the brook, the city and the hills beyond. It’s probably worth the extra cost for one of these rooms if you will stay a few days. Twin rooms are likely to be on this side.
Very economical and good hotel
Dino4theWorldon 04/07/2016 14:15At the back of train station, quiet. Hotel rate is very good. Breakfast is very complete. Comes with washing machine facility which helps especially after a day at the beach/sand. Service is basic but Helpful. Aircon is a bit odd, but maybe because the building is old.
