Please don't go here. We went there yesterday and the waiter was not polite. First we order something to drink, there were only a few people there. We have to wait for half an hour for our drinks. After that we asked for the menu, my husband said his order and then the waiter was rude to my husband. My mother own a travel agency and I help here sometimes to find nice places. I must say that the waiter and waitress are mostly service-minded, but not this time. Ibiza is lovely and all another people have been very kindly.
We loved Es Grop , our room had beautiful view of bay, as I think most rooms did. Elevated position meant lots of steps but boy it was worth it! Good walk in shower, huge very comfy bed, memory foam mattress, free air-con, ample hanging and drawer space. Kitchen had most things, we ate out, who cooks on holiday? The Zulu lounge beneath was amazing, great food and drinks, lovely guys serving, all looking out over the bay. Not a place for ravers, more a chilled laid back take it easy holiday, would definitely go there again, loved it.
My fiancé and I (both mid-20s) stayed at these apartments for 5 nights last week and had a really lovely stay.
We had booked a ‘studio with sea view’ which really did give us the most beautiful view of the bay we could have wished for. Perfect to wake up to every morning.
We arrived at 11:30am but couldn’t check-in until 2pm. We decided to dump the cases and go down to the Zulu Lounge for some lunch and sangria (this is also owned by the hotel, and is the best bar in Portinatx!). At 2pm we were given a key to our apartment, and that was that. No welcome pack/information etc, just a key. However, we managed to fathom everything out ourselves.
The room itself was small but clean, and had everything we needed for our stay (well equipped kitchen etc.). We did have some issues with cold water in the shower, but found that it may be plumbed wrong as when turned the tap to cold it became hot! The toilet was not securely screwed to the floor as others have mentioned, however, just don’t move about too much and you’ll be fine (wasn’t an issue).
On our last day we had an issue with the air con, and as we’d found for the duration of our stay, there was never anyone on reception to speak to. However, there is a mobile number for the owner, who once phoned, was at our door in minutes.
The apartment wasn’t cleaned during our 5 night stay, and beds made/towels only changed once. Not the best level of hospitality but we’re not mucky people so wasn’t too bad. If we were staying longer I fear this may have become an issue.
As people have said, there are lots of steps to and from the beach/restaurants, so this could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems.
Everything you need – shops, bars, restaurants, beaches, car hire (very reasonable!) is all on your doorstep, and Portinatx itself is just beautiful.
Would return to these apartments again, and would recommend. Just don’t expect 5 star treatment! But for the price they’re great!
My wife and I recently returned to these APPTs our 3rd visit). Upon arrival the reception was unmanned, but after phoning the number on the counter the owner was shortly with us. Our room was also overlooking the main beach, but we were very lucky (luck of the draw) there are rooms overlooking the rear and the Australasia block is at the back with a limited sea view but right infront of the pool area (better for families with children). Some front APPTs have wonderful views of the beach and are spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable by hotel standards and the self catering facilities were really good, including a large fridge/freezer and microwave. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower. The pool and pool area are small, but the views are amazing and it's a great sun trap. The Chinese restaurant /bar next to the pool served very reasonably priced drinks, and though we didn't eat there, those that we spoke to that did said it was excellent. The Zulu restaurant at the bottom of the steps , (owned by the hotel) has seating by the sea and the food there was lovely. Portinatx itself is such a beautiful place. The drive into the APPTs is outside of the main town area (1 mile) and not easily located without a good map. However, once there they are a 2 min walk down onto the beach and a 5 min walk (on the coastal walk) into the main town area. Could do with updating the original furniture, but at the price they are excellent value ! They did not provide a hairdryer or iron & board, albeit, they were sure to provide us with a brand new air con system and ceiling fan. The small kitchen was well equipped and the apartment was very spacious for two adults. Shower was sometimes cold and there was no one on reception to discuss issues with. Free WIFI (bit slow). The pool could do with more loungers (but the beach is 2 mins away). For the price and excellent option. Steep steps to the beach - disabled access ramp is provided but it is rather steep.
We arrived mid afternoon and struggled to find the apartments as they were not easily located. However, with the help of Google maps we managed to track it down.
The apartment we were given was actually in the Australasia block at the back. We could see the view of the Es Grop apartments from our balcony but the views were, nonetheless fine.
It was clean enough but could do with updating the original furniture. They did not provide a hairdryer or iron & board, albeit, they were sure to provide us with a brand new air con system and ceiling fan.
The small kitchen was well equipped and the apartment was very spacious for two adults.
The only disappointments were, the shower was very cold and there was no one on reception to discuss these issues. The owners never provided a welcome pack, therefore trying to connect to the WIFI was a bit of a hassle. The pool available could do with more loungers as another option for those who don't enjoy the beach.
However, for the price we paid for the apartment, we believe we could justify the cost. These apartments could have a lot going for them if money was invested.
