What People are saying

Does what it says on the tin !!!

Teah34on 18/08/2017 16:17

Well what can I say, booked a weeks holiday for my family of 4 read the reviews and thought if it's that bad we can go to the beach and use the restaurants that are in abundance down there to eat . We arrived late Thursday night room was basic but immaculately clean (and cleaned daily ) . The rooms had everything you needed apart from air con, fans can be hired from reception also no kettle but there was a coffee machine . The bowls were very shallow not proper bowls kids did moan about this but it was minor in the grand scheme of things .
Pool area was clean slight issue with sun beds you had to get up at 7.30 to put towels out otherwise they were gone and you wouldn't get one until late afternoon . There were lots of towels out and no one using then until late afternoon !!
We ate a few nights at the pool bar again it was cheap and cheerful but no complaints . It's happy hour all day at the pool bar this was popular and very drinkable , smoothies and slushy for the kids were €2.50 again reasonable . We ate out a few nights but there is a bbq twice a week again cheap and plenty of food the kids loved the bbq evenings so much so we did both nights !!!
Now the best bit the entertainment Paul saint angelo !!! What a guy . He does the pool entertainment in the day and then comes back in the evening to do the quiz , bingo oh no not bingo !!!! and karaoke ... If this isn't your cup of tea then I'm afraid there Is no getting away from it the kids loved it so we just embraced it and to be fair he's good at what he does and remembers everyone's name which is a nice touch . We met some lovely people, and made some great friends and everyone is friendly enough . Big question would we go back ? Ummm maybe not next year but yes we would go back amadores is a beautiful place and so much more to see

Nice hotel and location

We stayed here for 1 week in middle of august. The hotel itself is very basic but spotlessly clean. There is no air con which is a huge diaster for me as i like a bit of coolness wheb im sleeping at night. We hired fans from reception but they just circulated hot air. I would come back here if they installed air con. Its a 5minute walk down to the beautiful beach with clear water perfect for swimming. There are some lovely resteraunts along the beach front. Ciao beach italian does the beat pizzas and profiteroles ever!!
There is a little spar a few minutes walk from the apartments which has everything you need.

The apartments also has a mini market that is open until 22.45 every evening.... apart from one evwning we arrive at 22.15 to go into the mini market and there was a sign saying il be back soon... we waited....and waitd... until another guest asked when it wud be open and the receptionist said it was closed for the night... this wasnt good as the spar closes at 21.45.

There is a big problem with sunloungers here. It says not to reserve them with towels but by 7.30am they are all taken and so because of this we never used the pool or the bar or anything at the apartments.
The entertainment is apalling.... same karaoke songs every night... and bingo.

Apart from that its a decent little place but they need to stick to their rules and get some aircon.

Great stay fabulous holuday

We stayed here for one week after reading the reviews we were looking forward to our family holiday.
We arrived were greated by the reception staff which were very welcoming.
We found our rooms with ease what a nice surprise they were spacious and very clean.
We had two rooms next to each other which we were grateful for as this was a late booking.
The hotel reception we're very helpful we did not find their English was a problem at all.
We had some lovely dinners out on the beach in Puerto Rico via the coastal path this is a must as the views are breathe taking.
We also ate and drank in the poolside bar again very nice and good value for money.
We didn't gave a problem with Sun lounges around the pool but could see it could escalate as a few Brits do like the same spot everyday. There are pleanty of sun L oungers in the afternoon after We returned from the beach.
We choose the beach which is a short easy walk most days. The beach was beautiful soft sand.At times the beach can get rather busy but we didn't find this a problem either. We took our towels beach mat and our own parosols which was a good save.
The pool was checked each morning and cleaned well maintained. As were the Sun loungers they were thoroughly cleaned one morning as was all the poolside area.
The cleaners worked hard to keep rooms and all areas around the pool spotlessly clean

The entertainment was ok you take it or leave it. It isn't to everybodies taste but its free its fun and it gets the guests together. It ends at 11.30 pm so go and join in or sit on your balcony and listen from afar.
The water polo was funny to watch. Paul is a great ref.
We had the BBQ too which was a success for us well worth the Euro.
We will defiantly return as found the staff extremely pleasant lovley rooms and all in all a fabulous holiday.

Just a little note maybe take a travel kettle.

Two weeks in "Grand" Amadores

MickyRingo73on 15/08/2017 18:46

Great value for money accommodation ,we where there 1st 2 weeks of August and it was very hot so just be prepared that there is no AC in the rooms although a fan can be hired at reception , little cooking equipment in apartment and No free wifi , you can purchase wifi at the reception but we where told the signal is not great , so we never purchased it , be prepared to use a lot of Data on your mobile devices if you are surfing the net or using social media , TV in your room , and you can hire a safe in your room also Cleanliness of the apartments and surrounding areas are first class and well maintained , cleaning staff and maids are very enthusiastic and hard working and do a great job , bar food is not too bad ( burgers , pizzas , chips etc )but its bar food not restaurant food so it is what it is , you need to venture a bit further for restaurants around the beach which is about 5-10mins walk or further a field Europa centre or into Puerto Rico which is about 1 mile away or between 4-6 euros in a taxi , Taxi's can be ordered at reception and arrive in couple of minutes , again restaurants can be hit or miss outside the complex you need to shop around , the complex offers an all you can eat BBQ mid week and Buffet dinner on Sundays for 10 euros per person to be honest it wasn't that great !! ( Very Bland we thought ) and you stand in a queue like a school canteen ( which I don't like ) , bar staff are not very welcoming or friendly very straight faced ( its nice to get a service with a smile which didn't happen ) and there never seems to be someone there during the day when you go for a drink , so you stand around for a while at times waiting for bar person to get served , pool table and air hockey tables are very tired and need renewed although I put that down to their age and the fact kids are too rough with them , cues and white ball behind the bar and a deposit to play would cure this , as kids are playing with cue sticks and rolling white ball around the ground when not being supervised by their parents However Entertainment at night is a good laugh , they have a English Entertainer Paul Santangelo who really tries to get everyone going and is quite witty and funny , we enjoyed his craic he is quite unique with his sayings and banter and goes out of his way to very quickly learn everyone's name , making you feel welcomed & involved , he involves everyone young and old so theres plenty for the kids & Adults and I really couldn't fault the guy for his enthusiasm which must be difficult day in day out with different family's coming and going all the time , he also does pool games during the day for kids and adults like water polo and diving for coins + inflatable races so top marks for the guy ,( he is only there 3 months of the year at the peek of the holiday season June- August as it probably isn't busy enough for him outside that time)entertainment ends at 1130 pm and bar shuts at midnight which is fair enough as their are young familys trying to sleep and surrounding apartments which need respected ,if you want to party on go into Puerto Rico or the Europa centre which are opened until about 3am , within Gran Amadores they also organise free shows once / twice a week , while we where their there was a reptile show , tropical show , birds of prey show and parrot show , I'm totally against performing animals but these where from stationaries where they have been rescued and bred in captivity and the guys no all about them and are very passionate about saving these great creatures so to me acceptable , although they will not let you take photographs of them yourself however will allow you to hold them after the show and get a photograph taken by a member of their team for around 10 euros which I'm sure goes into the sanctuary , all and all this Apartment complex is good value if you want anything more you would need to be prepare to pay more when booking your holiday and upgrading to a 4 star or 5 star complex I don't think it would be worth it , some of the surrounding apartment complex's came to our entertainment nights as theirs where not good ............all and all we were very satisfied and had a very enjoyable time , I am really considering going back again next year . so a "Grand" time at Gran Amadores

One Week Holiday

west1970on 15/08/2017 14:26

We stayed in the Gran Amadores from the 7th - 14th August 2017, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was perfect, with a great view of the bay, clean and everything in its place. There is no air conditioning, although we took a fan with us, and you can hire them at reception. The food at the hotel bar is great, and two for one drinks all day. The entertainer Paul was fab, and helped everyone settle in quickly, he was a great laugh, and wonderful with the kids.
