great location

stayed here first week of july.apartment had everything you would need for self catering.
comfortable bed,king size.plenty of hanging space.even had a coffee machine and dish washer.bath and shower.bathroom quite large.
very central,3 minutes walk to the promenade,and 15 minute walk to the cable car and old town.
just about opposite is the park,where you can sit and have a drink.
apartment has a safe,to hire for 10 euro's a week.maid service every day.
In general this hotel is very clean and tidy with lifts to all floors.
plenty of restaurants nearby,and shops and supermarket,2 min; walk up the road.
recommend this hotel

Great place to stay

We found this a great place to stay, its central location is within a few minutes walk to all amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed on a bed and breakfast. The breakfast is served next door in a small café (entry door in hotel). There was a great choice and a bacon and egg breakfast was available on request.
The only downside was the balcony for which we paid extra. The balcony is minute and overlooks derelict and burnt out properties (see attached photographs)

These are very central so ideal for exploring Funchal. A little tired but more than adequate for our needs.Ask for a room at the back and as high as possible to get a view of the mountains from the balcony. The shower can flood the bathroom so pull the screen in towards you to stop this. Also when you go up to your floor in the lift its pitch black but the light switch is in the corridor on the left, we were not told this when we were given our keys.
Excellent supermarket very close by for all your needs. Staff very helpful and friendly, I wouldn't bother with breakfast, buy your own or go to the many local restaurants. Also if you like a big mug of tea or coffee take a mug with you as they only have those horrible cups with tiny handles.

Convenience above luxury

We deliberately chose the apartments for the location in the centre of Funchal. Out priority was to be able to travel easily by bus to other parts of the island. We also prefer the 'old town' atmosphere to beachside for eating out etc. The apartment met expectations: clean and functional. Good bakers almost next door for breakfast items. Funchal a delightful town, especially for evening strolls. Buses easy to locate and negotiate.

Lovely April stay

Stayed at Atlantida apartments for a week between 17th- 24rth of this month . Open plan apartment was spacious , well equipped , spotlessly clean with a nice view up mountains from balcony ( room 303 ) reception staff always friendly & ready to give any information asked for .
Apartment well situated near everything in Funchal , short stroll from harbour , cable cars , & loads of beautiful wee restaurants , thoroughly recommended .
