Average place but great price & location
saltacityon 14/05/2017 10:57The Adagio Bâle - Saint Louis is a very basic aparthotel with slightly run down facilities. Carpet has seen better days, scratched doors, etc. But in terms of price it is really and the Swiss border is really just down the road (only some 100m away). Breakfast buffet is good. Staff is very helpful and helpful - outstanding. Wifi was not working during my stay.
The manager keeps sending the same comments to all reviews posted here: one standard text for positive and an apologetic version for negative reviews. So apparently there is no real management interest in customer feedback.
Still it is an OK place and I recommend it if you are looking for a cheap option close to Switzerland.

arhitectglobetrotteron 25/03/2017 16:55The Adagio hotel rooms are equiped with Cichinette with fridge, microwave, sink.
It looks more like a Ibis Styles with low cost details ( door, ventilation).
Average wifi.
Fiendly staff.
Good and early breakfast.
Free parking on the street or payment parking in the court.
Did the job!
fraulynon 11/03/2017 08:36Much cheaper to stay here than across the border in Basel. However do take into account the fact that when you stay in a hotel in Basel you get free public transport so you need to weigh up your options if you're thinking of using transport a lot. There is a tram stop just over the border which takes you straight to the centre of Basel in minutes. Our room at the Adagio was clean and had everything we needed...a small kitchen area with a cooker, microwave and fridge. The bathroom was a bit small but was functional if a little worn around the edges. The foam mattress on the bed was well used and we have slept better in other hotels. There is a strange policy about towels.....if you stay for up to 3 nights you get clean towels. We stayed for four so didn't get fresh towels...seems a bit odd. We took towels with us anyway so not a real issue. The breakfast was very good. Fresh bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, cook-your-own-eggs, cold meats, cheeses, jams and fruits. Staff were very helpful. We walked into Saint Louis a couple of times and found a nice bar about 15 minutes from the Adagio. Cheaper to drink there than in any of the bars in Basel! All in all a nice stay at this hotel.
Perfect for the purpose
andraszon 03/03/2017 09:24For less than half the price of a mediocre small hotel room in Basel you get a studio apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and separate bedroom. Furnishings are simple but functional, perfect for both business and private stay. As an added perk the hotel offers free airport transfers, not a shuttle service that runs at fixed hours but a pre-ordered cab that meets you on arrival. The only catch is it must be pre-ordered, on arrival via email to the hotel, on departure well in advance as call times can be 30-40 minutes. Best do it the evening before departure to avoid surprises.
Usually such a great value comes with strings attached, the place being in the middle of nowhere. Not in this case, in good weather central Basel is 30 minutes walking distance, if the weather is bad the No 11 tram stops 300m from the hotel entrace on the Swiss side of the border. In the other direction there is a Carrefour supermarket just 15 minutes away on foot in central St Louis (also several restaurants catering to every taste).
WiFi in the room was not the fastest, skype would only work with sound, no video, but that is a small compromise to make for such great value.Overall an excellent choice for anyone not on a limitless expense account.
