Our 10th visit to this hotel
DiandRoberton 23/08/2017 18:31I am sorry that I am a bit late putting the review on TA. We travelled in June for 2 weeks. Before we arrived we e-mailed the hotel asking for a room in a certain part of the hotel and were grateful to be given exactly what we asked for.
The quality of the meals and the overall presentation has improved quite a lot from last year. We have always enjoyed the food here and go AI. But this year was even better. (Apart from being smoked out during the BBQ night and were forced to sit inside.)
As in most hotels you have to pay for the safe €15 per week plus €6 refundable deposit for the key. It is a condition of our insurance that we have a safe for our valuables. There is also a charge (environmental charge of €2.50) per towel per change. There are pool towels provided along with bathrobes and slippers in your room on arrival. So it’s up to the guest if they think they need clean towel.
It may be better if the hotel did charge a deposit for the towel so that they were handed in at the end of the holiday. On numerous occasions it looks like someone has got up early to reserve a sun bed when in actual fact the towel has just been left by the guests that went home the day before.
We never had a problem getting a sunbed. If the ones in the morning sun had been taken there were always beds on the “Beach area” available also in the sun early, plus the sun terrace on the 6th floor.
Drinks for the AI (during the day) are self-service for beer, wine and soft drinks. Cocktails and spirits you had to go to the bar for. I am not really happy about the position of the self-service drinks as you have to walk through the restaurant to get to them. We did mention this to the manager last year but we were told that there were not any alternatives unless there was major work to the bar area.
If you are half board for €3.50 each you can have a drinks pass to use the AI self-service drinks area for as long as you are in the restaurant. That’s less than the cost of a pint. Go in for dinner at 7pm and leave at 9,30pm all for €3.50 happy days!!
One of the best things that has happened over the years at Sunprime is that they have changed the way they recruit staff. Before most of them were on 6 month contracts and each year you go back there were only a couple of faces from the year before. Now most of the staff are permanent. It was great to catch up with Jasper, Gabriel and Juan Carlos. There are other good members of staff but these 3 guys have really looked after us over the years.
While on the subject of staff and levels of service. Just because a guest is All inclusive does not stop you for showing your appreciation for good service. All inclusive just covers the costs of your drinks and food etc.
As you can tell from the number of times we have been to Sunprime we love the hotel and the location. The staff are in the most part great, I think it’s more a case of treat people how you like to be treated yourself.
There is evening entertainment on about 5 nights week. Either next to the pool or in the lobby bar. The best night for us was the DJ twice a week by the pool bar/chill out area. He asked for requests so would play a very wide range of music and quite often towards the end of the evening people would be dancing.
One last point. The pool area does not have any music playing during the day as it’s supposed to be a quite chilled out area for people to relax and unwind. However as in nature a vacuum has to be filled. So there are a few extremely selfish people that inflict their music on everyone around them with their Bluetooth speakers and smartphones or ipods/ipads. Do everyone a favour and get some headphones. €20 from the market.
great location
Forshawson 23/08/2017 13:27having just returned after 2 weeks we found this hotel to be in an excellent position for beach, shops, bars , tansport etc. The Hotel staff were very friendly on the whole, especially the dining room staff. The hotel was clean and tidy and the maids did a great job. The pool area was pleasant but only half got sunshine until about 2.00 when the sun moved round. We found going up to the sun terrace a really relaxing chill out zone. The pool would have benefited from some sort of background music as it lacked a bit of oomph!! We stayed half board as we like to get out and about during the day. The food wasn't great, having stayed at other hotel of the same board in various countries. The food wasn't hot, warm just. The cooked breakfast was the same every day with poor quality meats and bacon I wouldn't even give to an animal! The evening meal was hit and miss, again average, not hot and vegetables that had been cooked to death. There was a charge if you wanted a drink with dinner of 3 euros per person, even for water. Felt as if you were being watched in case you took a drink you hadn't paid for!! The restaurant layout was pleasant with the option of sitting outside, I have to say that the hotel facilities to use for showing when checking out were pretty disgusting. They were grubby, mouldy ceiling and 4 showers to a corridor area with not ventilation or air conditioning. It was like a sweat box, no hairdryers provided or a dry area in which to get dressed properly. I would recommend the area to visitor but would if we went again return not here but to the Tigotan up th road,
One week all inclusive
les won 21/08/2017 19:30Hotel is in a good position just a short walk to bars and shopping, the bedrooms are very good ,comfortable beds, good shower, air conditioning works well, and kept very clean.the drinks are local brands and includes some cocktails.the cleaners open the pool area just before nine o clock and by ten past nine they are all taken ,as there are around eighty beds it's not surprising as the hotel has 136 rooms, there are more beds on the roof terrace if you're lucky enough to get one.the pool area is very quiet apart from half an hour of water aerobics in the morning its very quiet no music no animation team no children running around which suited us fine.the food was generally good but not outstanding and could have been warmer, the evening entertainment was low key a d j a couple of nights singers on other nights ending at around eleven o'clock the same time the all inclusive ends, come twelve nearly everyone's gone to bed.if you're looking for a quiet laid back hotel this could be for you if you're looking for lively with lots going on it definitely isn't .
Tenerife break
foxy32Glasgowon 17/08/2017 17:50Staff were friendly and pleasant apart from Linda who worked on the front reception. Extremely rude and lacking in social skills.
On the other hand Vadim who worked in the dining area was always bright and cheerful with a ready smile. Hope the management recognise what an asset he is to them.
Sun bed situation needs to be sorted. Towels left on beds from early morning till llate afternoon without being used ! So inconsiderate ......again management need to address this major problem. Also pool area lacking in atmosphere. Could do with some light background music. Think this hotel is definitely over-rated.
Disappointed
cynthiamayon 16/08/2017 20:30I feel as if we stayed in a completely different hotel after reading some of the reviews. Yes the hotel is clean and the Staff are very pleasant and helpful, the hotel is in a good spot for getting out and about. I couldn't believe that if we wanted the beds changed we had to strip them ourselves, really not good enough in a supposedly 4* hotel, if you wanted beach towel changed you had to pay, checkout at 12 noon and all inclusive stops then even if you have a late flight. In the whole two weeks we were there we never had any really hot food no matter what time we went for a meal. We did enjoy our holiday but unfortunately I don't feel able to recommend this hotel and certainly wouldn't make a return visit.
