Room was great, service very mixed & food - expensive & hit & miss
David Bon 20/02/2016 17:47The rooms (nice apartments) were very nice, extremely clean, excellent air conditioners, big sitting & dining room, nice kitchenette, with separate bedroom, loads of cupboard space, nice desk, lots of electric points, very comfortable beds.
The hotel is also well-located. The room was very quiet. They have a good back up generator. Wifi, however, is very poor all over the hotel, even in public areas. Makes doing business much more difficult.
However, service was very mixed. Portuguese is almost a must. Staff were hit or miss, some not friendly or helpful at all, a couple very nice. Saw no management during my five day stay.
Breakfast is fine, but, other meals are really not that good, but, very expensive. Highly recommend eating elsewhere, if you can find a place (some really nice local restaurants nearby).
All in all, for Luanda, not a bad place - the management could be tightened up to make it a much better experience.
Room cum appartment
Muddassar Mon 23/03/2015 16:14The Hotel is very good. I stayed here for business purpose (paid by company, so don't know the prices). Rooms consist of Washroom, Kitchen / TV Room & a separate Bedroom. Food was also good & serving was tremendous. Good Hotel but I think must be expensive.
Acceptable hotel in the city center of Luanda
FrnkSon 09/07/2014 08:53I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights on my business trip to Luanda. The hotel is located in downtown luanda. The hotel is used from many expats for a long term stay. The rooms, actually a mini appartment, have a slepping room, a small living room with sofa, TV, table and chairs and a small kitchenette, plus a bath room. The kitchenette was completly emty, The fridge was completly icy - the drinking water inside completly frozen. FYI: The hotel is providing just 0.5 L bottle of water on the day of arrival. The windows are not providing any sound isolation, the noise from the street you hear during the whole night.
I arrived in the morning and booked an early check it. However the door lock didn't work and I got another room (smaller than the standard room). But there was no water in the tap - so I couldn't take a shower and fresh up for the working day. It looks like they forgot to fill the watertank of the hotel. In the evening we had water again - but the color was so dark that I didn't take a shower and washed me with bottled water. The same happened again two days later..... No excuise or anything from the hotel management. You need to speak Portuguese to get anything - even at the reception sometimes you will not find an English speaking person.
The breakfast is OK - you get fresh fruits, bread and cold cuts as well as some hot thinks. The terrace on the roof top offers a nice view and meals are served here as well - but could take a while.
All over all the hotel is just acceptable. Will book another hotel on my next trip to Luanda.
Very good, in Luanda
danipujolon 24/01/2013 19:36Big Rooms, good sleep quality and that's it. It has a very nice terrace and it's nice to have dinner or drinks there. The restaurant is good and not as overpriced as most of the restaurants in Luanda.
Ok for Angola standards
Sasha Bon 17/12/2012 13:41I will not be returning to this hotel, stayed here for four nights late November - I understand it is a new hotel and teething problems should be expected.
Check in was easy however when I gt to my room the key didn't work. This hapened a couple of occassions.
When checking out the hotel wouldn't except single USD notes.
You ha to pay $10 for a hairdryer loan - remember to ask for it back as they might forget if you don't ask.
I ordered room service on first night - big mistake as I do t speak portugese, it took 5 phone calls and my order was still wrong.
The room was large and very clean. Breakfast was nice - tea/ bread/ fruit/ cereal and some fried food which I didn't try.
The bathroom was nice and clean - there was NO hot water each morning which was a pain.
TV in the room was okay, worked fine apart from one morning which was due to Angola Internet problems which we can't blame the hotel for.
If you can speak Portugese and handle cold showers then this hotel will be right up your street, unfortunately for me I won't be returning to this hotel.
