What People are saying

Nice hotel with helpful staff in a good location.

I would stay there again. Staff was gracious about my special requests. I found out later that right behind it is George Heriot School which is said to be the model for Hogwarts. There are many restaurants across the street in the square but get there early on weekend nights. The little cafe with the sheep outside is pretty good for breakfast and lunch and friendly,

Apex is the "top"

I had a wonderful experience last year, so I came back this year. The room was beyond clean - every surface was sparkling. Fantastic amenities- especially the rubber ducky. Great comfy bed, great views, great location, friendly and professional service. Absolutely no complaints - only compliments. Thank you again for a lovely stay!

Get a balcony room with castle view! The best. Again, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

We were in Edinburgh for the Arts Festival. Our hotel was on the old market place called "Grassmarket." The hotel room itself was just "okay,"( limited storage, no dresser drawers!, fabulous shower but again no storage in the bathroom),plus one of the two elevators was out of commission for most of our stay.
Having said all that, the restaurant had some interesting and delicious menu items, the continental breakfast was the best for the price that we have seen anywhere, the hotel staff is very accommodating in every respect, and the view from our room was priceless. Plus, the hotel is located in the midst of everything. We walked to it all (and I am not a big fan of walking). The sightseeing bus stop was in front of the hotel. Bars and restaurants everywhere, lots of happy street noise that we completely blocked out when we closed the balcony door. The reservation staff was terrific and kept us informed via email.
As for wheelchair accessibility, forget it. This hotel is wheelchair accessible but the bulk of Edinburgh is not. The beautiful cobblestone streets will wreck your wheelchair in an hour. Edinburgh is built with the castle at the pinnacle overlooking the city so every trip is up or down hill. We saw some wheelchair tourists but they had my sympathy. If you are wheelchair bound best to go with a tour planned with accessibility in mind.
We would stay here again.

APEX DURING EDINBURGH FESTIVAL

Hotel coped very well with masses of visitors. Would be a different experience in quieter times. A few cut corners due to visitor numbers. Hotel décor getting a bit tired but staff were very friendly and helpful. Lift broke just as we had to check out of our room on the 5th floor but these things happen. Loved the swimming pool. Amazing views from our hotel room.

Superb location

Stayed at the Apex which is in the Grassmarket which is in the old town of Edinburgh and minutes from the famous castle, bars and restaurants. The hotel is clean, friendly and the rooms have all modern facilities. Baggage can be left on the day of departure which is ideal for late leavers. Very helpful and friendly staff. My only gripe is the inflated price of a room durning the fringe festival ( breakfast not included) bur if you want convenience I guess it comes at a premium. Lovely gesture of a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.
