DrJo10on 22/08/2017 12:57We had a great 2 night stay for the festival. Delicious breakfast, spacious comfortable room and all the staff were charming and helpful. The hotel was quiet but located close to the station and all the main areas for the festival.
Very Disappointing Experience
robertwG3140XBon 21/08/2017 09:17Having stayed at The Apex City as well as The Apex International on previous visits to Edinburgh, at these prices we expected a lot more than this. The rooms are not well appointed... why is there an extractor fan in the bedroom and not the bathroom?! Curtains don't close completely, light fittings poor quality, the bathroom basin had to be unblocked twice during our visit, the shower fitting wouldn't stay in place and the toilet didn't flush properly.
The breakfast was truly dreadful. Coffee was undrinkable, presumably reheated from several hours before. Toast arrives burnt AND stone cold. Cooked items are apparently welded to the plate and tasteless, even the ketchup is of the cheapest variety. On some mornings orange juice was not available. The staff trot out all the usual platitudes but refuse to engage with customers on any human level.
We were given a refund of our breakfast at the end of our stay but I am NOT reassured that any of our comments were actually taken on board... a pre-written email about customer satisfaction being very important to the company is all we received.
Some of the staff at reception function like robots and stare blankly into their computer screens as they speak. Clearly the staff are inadequately trained and poorly paid.
My suggestion... stay somewhere else!
One Worthwile Night

The room was spacious and comfortable and the food good, but the staff proved to be genial and the hotel's greatest asset: Having lost an important medicine during the trip, I had no way of getting another unless I got a prescription from a Scottish doctor.
I cannot thank Mr. Alan enough for his swift and efficient efforts to help me obtain it in such a short time!
Ms. Linda and the rest of the staff also deserve five stars for their kindness and good advice. Way to go!!
Brilliant hotel brilliant location
kenL007on 20/08/2017 18:09What a great hotel in a to die for location. The hotel is smart, clean and modern with some traditional architectural highlights that add to the atmosphere. The location couldn't be better smack bang next to the railway station and on the much sought after Princess street close to everything you need to be at. The room we had was brilliant 737 overlooking the main road. Brewing kit, fridge and large tv. The breakfast was amazing albeit a little pricy but every need catered for. Eggs cooked to perfection. But the best of all. The staff. The most helpful, friendly staff I have ever had the pleasure of. They are a credit to the hotel and made our stay brilliant. I would recommend this place to anyone. Trust me you won't be disappointed. 🍷🍾🥂👍👍👍👍👍
Adequate and reliable
Joan Pon 18/08/2017 22:20Our room was kind of quirky where we got off on one floor and had to walk down a few steps to another . This was annoying . The room was adequate and location good . Clean . Good location to see sights . Nothing about the hotel was exceptional but you will get a good room there .
