Million dollar views of Frenchman's Bay
Jim Bon 04/08/2017 17:24The Bluff House Inn is a gem on the quiet side of Frenchman's Bay across the bay from Bar Harbor. The views from the second story deck are unparalleled. The Innkeepers Dallas and Deb are very friendly and accommodating to your needs. The rooms are clean and unpretentious there are no tv's in the entire facility which is a welcome relief from the hubbub of the world. There is very good wifi at the Inn. There are several restaurants nearby in Winter Harbor and other small towns in the area. There is a 9 hole golf course in Winter Harbor that has three holes that are right on Frenchman's Bay, I mean so close that a ball hit long to the greens may end up in the ocean. While in the area be sure to visit the picturesque harbor of Corea and have lunch on the wharf, the grilled lobster and cheese sandwich is my favorite.
A Beautiful, Quiet Stay
Katherine Lon 29/12/2016 02:29The view of the sunset each night was breathtaking. It's the perfect location to explore too. There is a path that leads down to the water where we went swimming each morning. The Inn had breakfest for us to choose from to either eat in or take on the road to start the day. The Inn's location was a little under an hour to Bar Harbor and down the road from Schoodic Point; both beautifuls to hike and explore. Bluff House Inn was very accommodating for us. We were able to untilize the kitchen and have a bonfire down the hill. The Inn was doing some maintenance when we were there in September; re-painting the decks and doing some updates. What they have done already looks amazing. We can't wait to go back this summer!!!
Knockout view, pleasant hosts, somewhat run-down place
Westbrookeron 25/08/2016 11:50The Bluff House Inn has a spectacular view of Frenchman Bay. Dallas is a pleasant host but he is not the owner. The owner is absentee and clearly not putting money into maintaining or fixing up the place, which is not Dallas' fault. Rooms are basic. No TV in rooms. Worn carpeting, dated décor. Come for the view and the quiet and the stars at night. Breakfast is adequate. Two of the rooms are pet-friendly.
Disregarded property
luvaspinaon 17/08/2016 02:44I couldn't agree more with the person who wrote a review on 28 July. Come here only if you like quiet, you have no needs but watching the ocean, you like basics (room and breakfast), you don't want to meet the innkeeper (the leave the key for you at the reception), and you also like to be overcharged. Self-catering accommodation. Good luck with everything else. It is bluff!
Peace not Luxury
Liz Don 13/08/2016 03:59Everyone is looking for something when they travel. Some love luxury. Some love to relax. I relax. Bluff House was the beginning of a two week trip and set a great marker for what we wanted to experience. Dallas was friendly, relaxed, and informative. If you travel in the summer, wear mosquito spray for the upstairs porch. It is an awesome place to watch the sunset.
I know this sounds like I have some weird obsession with the sun but I planned to go to Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunrise. Not close and overcrowded. Schoodic Point (also in Acadia) was a magnificent place to watch the sunrise without the irritation
of excessive crowds. So close to this B&B!
Maybe an upgrade to breakfast would be a good option. It was fine and plentiful but I am a bacon and eggs girl. I'm hoping to come back with my husband soon and would be super pleased to see a warm cozy breakfast on the serving table.
