Dependable but get room away from disco
MexicoMikeRealon 26/08/2013 04:20I have stayed here many times over the years. It has always been decent and professional. It is the best in town and this is where visiting businessmen stay. I looked at the other two options and did not particularly care to change my habit of staying at the Kinaku.
OK there is a negative to the hotel that you should know. There is a disco or loud bar on the top floor. During the week, it is not too bad. But on Friday and Saturday, it can be unbearable if you are in the same part of the hotel as it. So get a room on a lower floor and ask the bellman to get you one as far away from the disco as possible.
Oh yeah, another thing to watch for - since it is so close to the zocalo or town square, if there is a fiesta going on there, you will probably hear it. Ideally you want a room away from both noise sources. However, the local fiestas usually don't last until much after midnight, if that. Go have some fun. You will be welcome.
The underground parking is kind of challenging to enter, but once you are there, I believe your stuff will be safe. I have never had a problem here.
I did not use the Internet so cannot comment on it.
I have eaten at the restaurant and while it is higher-priced than others in town, it is decent food and not too out of line.
Best hotel in area.
TheBigFishHeadon 17/09/2007 05:30Great hotel especially for a non-tourist area. Clean, huge rooms. No funny smells and a quite air conditioner. Great for a family, or small tribe. They charged by the number of persons in the room. 1 person around $500 pesos + tax. 24hr Restaurant is really good with a full bar, and they take credit cards. I stayed on the 4th floor, no elevator. Really friendly staff but no English speakers here.
