Good sized apartment but no wifi!

Stayed here with my daughter recently as we wanted to visit Geneva but not pay Geneva hotel prices. It worked well for that purpose. Spacious apartment and quite well equipped kitchen. Good size bathroom. Great water pressure in the shower. The internet did not work in our room though and we had to stand in the reception area to get it (or sit on the stairs when reception was closed). Frustrating as it was advertised as having internet in all rooms. Also there is no air conditioning and it was very hot. Had to sleep with windows open and got covered in mosquito bites! There is a 'Monoprix' supermarket opposite that is open until 8pm, which was very handy. The number 61 bus goes directly into the city and takes about 40mins. There are several stops in Annemasse where you can catch it and you can get either a single ticket or day pass from the tourist office by the station. The tickets can be used on the trams, trains and water taxis too. Day pass costs about chf10

Adequate accommodation for a couple of days in Annemasse.

We recently stayed at the Appart'city In Annemasse as it was a cheaper alternative than staying in Geneva, Switzerland. Geneva is only about 30 mins away by bus, the bus stop is a 1 minute walk from the apartment (in front of the pharmacy if you are looking for it). The apartment is central to the main shopping streets in Annemasse and only 5 minutes walk from the train station and main bus stop. The apartment was equiped with basic cooking provisions however the bedding was comfortable and also had good bathroom facilities. We were located on the 3rd floor and had very poor wifi connection however when we queried this a wifi router was quickly installed in our room. Although we were located in the city centre the area around is pedestrian only and even though there was a bar across the street there was minimal noise of an evening.

We found the hotel and couldn't check in until 3 so we walked around a bit. When we came back, we walked in the door on the heels of other residents and went to the reception on floor 1. Otherwise, you have to be buzzed in. (We actually got to the hotel at 2:30 and were allowed to go up) If you don't know, they consider the ground floor as zero. You have to go into the elevator and go to floor 1. We got to our room and the door was open cause they were still cleaning. They were done, they just needed to put a trash bag in. It was no issue. It was pretty clean and spacious. The bed was ok and we felt comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The location is good with bus 61 pretty much right outside and they have a flag out front now so it was easy to find. There's also a monoprix right across the alley and a Lidl not far away. I thought it was silly to have to pay extra to get a modem and take it to your room (2 Euros per night). But whatever. It was faster and more reliable than most of the other hotels I've stayed in in Europe during the past 8 months. On my iPhone, I could get a signal from reception in room 301 but it kept going out. If you don't want to pay for internet, I suppose you could get by with this sending emails and basic web surfing. My computer wouldn't pick it up. TV was ok. The bar was a little loud only because they had a TV and speaker system set up to watch some game. I didn't feel unsafe here like other people have said. The entrance is right in a square with a bunch of businesses around. I was a little leery to book two nights, but after testing the waters, we extended another night.

Cool place for staying, You have Le Boureau down stairs (the bar). The prices are ok considering the Haute Savoie (even if Annemasse has nothing to proove like the other Haute Savoie cityes. The appart is clean, has a brackfast and i think that the wifi is not included in the room price.

pros:
1. price ... unfortunately price dropped further during our stay.
2. convenient location. .

cons:
1. not clean eg. stains on carbet, ketchinware not clean, appratment smelled bad on arraival.
2. weak management eg. when complained about room smell we were not offered any other (while that may be due to occupancy constraints) the management were not keen on helping.
3. very difficult to locate.
appartment is very vey basic.
4. access to the building were not in way that would make resident feel comfortable / secure especially without a frontdesk / security from 9 pm to 7 am.
