What People are saying

Save Your Money and Sleep on the Street

Andy Mon 27/06/2017 18:40

I will start by saying that this property is not in a particularly nice part of town. That is the best thing I can say about it. It is run down and frankly, my room smelled of old cigarettes and a damp locker room.

One night I came back and found that my room key wasn't working. I went down to reception, but they had left for the night and everything was boarded up. It took a while, but I found a number for security and called. They got me into a safe in the lobby and got me a key to another room. My phone died at this point, so I couldn't let my colleagues know where I was and we had a meeting in the morning. There was no alarm clock and I couldn't get to my medications that were locked in my room.

I managed to get a few hours of sleep and thankfully woke up in time to get down to reception, get a new key and get into my smelly room to change my clothes before I had to leave for my meeting.

When I got back to reception after my day at work they offered to comp my breakfast. I never had breakfast and said at check in that I did not want breakfast as part of my room package. I asked for a full comp of my room for the previous night or at least a partial discount and was told I would have to talk to Celine Tempez. She would be back the next day. I was checking out at 5am the next day and asked for her to call me.

After 9 days and 3 emails from me she finally responded that the hotel had provided me another room that night, so they were sorry for the inconvenience, but there was nothing more they would do.

I hope you don't make the mistake I made; stay somewhere, anywhere else.

hotel is ok, nothing to love, nothing to hate

We went as a small family, the hotel reception is very unimpressive, small and could do with a lick of paint.

We chose to stay here to be next to the Kosher Resturant Las de la Pizza.

The rooms had everything you needed, a bed, sink, TV, fridge, and even a travel cot for our baby. The rooms are more impressive then the hotel it self, but overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The only thing that impressed me was the bathroom, that was quite modern and the welcome pack with toothpaste and shampoo was a nice touch.

Everything works by code and you will have to remember two codes to gain entry everyone. X The hotel has a front on the main street but you have to actually walk through a car park to get to the hotel, where there is then another code.

if you don't pay for breakfast which we never did, you will not see the seating area, as it's at the back of the hotel.

Average and poorly equipped.

Helpful and pleasant staff. We have stayed in several apartment hotels and this is the least well equipped. We don't want to cook gourmet dinners but would be struggling to cook anything at all. One saucepan, two side plates - no dinner plates, no kitchen knives or implements of any kind. Insult to injury - no wine glasses - in Bordeaux?

Avoid if possible

I stayed here for 2 nights. If I had not already paid through Booking.com, I would have left after the 1st night. My 1st warning should have been the neglected parking area (weeds), damage to the exterior of the building, and peeling glass reflective sheeting.

The GPS coordinates were spot on. Safe parking on the property behind a gate for the car, although no guards in place (which I'm used to in South Africa).

Reception was very friendly, able to speak English, and gave helpful advice to this tourist.

1st Room smelled musty, but I opened the window a bit, and it was better. The interior a bit worn down and scuffed (I was a bit squeamish to use the shower curtain which hangs inside the bath).

But the noise! There is no carpet in the hallway. Hard linoleum type flooring. And hard wood type flooring in the rooms. Every sound echoes down the hall...guests coming and going, doors opening and closing, but the worst was I could hear EVERYTHING my neighbors did. Even using the toilet. (At least the man had no prostrate problems - strong, steady stream). Water flushing and running down the pipes that sounded as if they were in the wall behind my head, teaspoon dropped, talking (and I know they were using hushed voices), even the sound of their slippers shuffling on the floor.

So I asked for another room. 1 Level down, in the corner, no neighbors. Here the air conditioning could barely cope with the outside temp of 24C. And the water running down pipes, guests above me taking a bath (and releasing their body gasses in the bath), using the toilet (nr 1 sounds much different than nr 2, lol)...well, you get the picture.

The area around the hotel is quite worn down, lots of buildings empty, graffiti on every surface. I drove through the streets at night and, although I did not see any dubious characters, I would definitely not advise walking alone after dark.

This apart'HOTEL is rated 3* on Booking.com. I would give it no more than 2.

And if you for decide to book, make sure the to request a room far from the lift/elevator. Its cranky gear noises and clanging of the doors opening and closing will wake the dead.

Wouldn't stay again

The staff here were lovely and very friendly however our room was a bit of a disgrace. I complained about our broken toilet seat within an hour of checking in and although we were only staying two nights it would have been nice if they would have fixed it on that day. However it never got fixed. My pillow smelt DISCUTING! Like it had never been washed. Only one towel was replaced when we needed two and the room in general just felt ignored except for making our beds. To be honest, I should have taken more on board from previous reviews. The location wasn't too bad. Short Walk to the edge of town however it is not in a pretty part of Bordeaux. We felt plenty safe however the area is pretty run down. Overall I won't be staying here again.
