Easy rail, bus or road access to surrounding areas of Cornwall
janettucknotton 20/09/2016 08:56Friendly, welcoming and comfortable B&B. Excellent breakfast too!
Woodland walks are nearby and is situated fairly centrally in the small town of St Austell. Evening meal is excellent and very good value in a local pub.
Easy access to The lost Gardens of Helligan on a bus.
We caught a train to St Ives for a very lovely day trip.
Well done Nicky and thank you for a wonderful few days.
Great location!
Henry Yon 17/09/2016 14:33Just stayed one night at Arches. Paolo was such a great help. The place was just about a 5 minute walk to the metro station with a lot of places to eat in the area including Bonci Pizzarium. Would have been perfect had there been a better supply of hot water for the shower. Would definitely stay here again.
Very clean , friendly and great location
Piero Gon 23/08/2016 01:53We stayed here for 3 nights. The room is in a specious 3 bedrooms apartment. Breakfast filled every morning with croissant, cakes, cereal, yogurt and juice. Plenty of espresso coffee!!
The apartment was clean with all accessories, our host Paolo welcomed us late at night when we arrived, gave us tips and advices.
It's close to station and Vatican.
I would recommended 5 stars.
An Easy Walk to the Vatican
Keith Aon 22/08/2016 01:22This Bed and Breakfast is a five minute walk to the vatican. The owners leave fruit and bread, coffee and pastries for breakfast. There is a 24 hour supermarket just around the corner and good restaurants in the area. This is basically a three bedroom apartment on the fourth floor of an apartment building. The owners do not live on site and there is no security.
Great homebase for Italian vacation
jwpines2016on 10/08/2016 17:26We (2 adults, 2 kids 11 & 12) spent 8 days in Rome at Arches as our home base. Fabio and Paulo arranged for us to be picked up at the airport (55E only slightly more than a cab - we had them do the same for our departure too) . The room (green room second floor - there are rooms on the 4th floor too) was clean and modern, as were the shared kitchen and living area. It's not a traditional B&B, it's a former apartment in a large pre-war building (with elevator.) You get a large bedroom with private bath, and shared common areas. Breakfast is self serve but plentiful; bread, pastries, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee and tea, butter and jam. You get use of the fridge, microwave and storage so we found a supermarket 4 blocks east on Via Giovanni Bettolo (street changes name at every intersection) and bought fixings for lunch, plus wine. Any issues (wifi down, running toilet) were dealt with quickly. Wifi is slow in room, faster on the shared computer station in the living area. They will print out online receipts and tickets for you, which we needed for our train tickets. We took day trips to Pompeii and Florence. Venice is in range with 3 hours on the bullet trains, but there are so many "must sees" in Rome that we didn't have time to do that too. It's a quick walk to the Ottaviano Metro stop and St Peters is only another 2 blocks on from there. Lemongrass Gelateria at the metro stop was our favorite. Dolce Maniera bakery - open 24 hours! - was a life saver with hot tired kids. Have one blow out meal at Hosteria dellAneglo on the corner, (traditional 3 course prix fixe menu 25E) but go around the corner to Trattoria Bella Napoli or the little bar a few doors down for regular meals. Trash pick up tends to happen in the very early morning, so we kept the windows closed and AC on at night. Do use the public water fountain right next to the front of the building. We had a great stay and would recommend Arches for a stay in Rome.
