I spent one night here on my way to a nearby yoga retreat at another hotel. On arrival, I was exhausted and grumpy, my case had gone missing and I was trying to deal with a taxi driver who apparently had no change! To make matters even worse, there was a moment of miscommunication when it seemed that I had no room booked. However, all of this was quickly resolved and the staff made me feel really at home. Their kindness and understanding meant so much to me as a lone female traveller.
My bungalow was clean, comfortable and very spacious, if a little sparsely furnished, and the bathroom was huge! It was fun having an outdoor bathroom, although I did have to share it with beetles, ants, a spider and geckos but it goes with the territory I suppose! There was also a nice outdoor porch area to sit in, which had a nice view over the gardens and pool. There was a water cooler and safe but on the downside, the rattan-style blinds on my floor to ceiling windows left me feeling a bit exposed, especially when the light was on.
I used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and was impressed with the food and friendly service. Overall I had a great stay and would consider Arco Iris again, mainly because it was clean, quiet, had great staff and felt close to nature!
Arco Iris is located in a very calm place Candidasa nearby ocean.
We’re stayed in the hotel 10 excellent days in September. It was very relaxed atmosphere. Every morning we were awakened by singing roosters and in the evenings our ears were delighted by geckos.
Of course, the hotel has big well-furnished bungalows, a good clean deep pool, fast Wi-Fi, good cuisine and normal prices for drinks in the restaurant, clean rooms, soft pillows, etc.
However, brilliant feature of the hotel is man with name Zhenya and his staff. Zhenya is owner of the hotel and he made our days. Zhenya originally from Moscow but many years he lives in Bali and knows Balinese language and culture in some cases even better than locals know. Zhenya very gladly shares all information he has and he can manage your local trips and adventures.
From our point, you must visit waterfalls Gili. Views are fantastic and if you brave enough you will be able to jump from 10 and 18 meters cliffs.
Also Zhenya can organize night tracking on volcanos. There are two volcanos on the island Batur and Agung. We postponed the climbing on a next time.
Regarding water pleasures.
Hotel’s watchman with name Bayan at the same time is a fishmen with his own boat. So if you OK to wake up in 4 am, than you will be able to enjoy a popping or trolling. By the way, our breakfasts “to go” were ready exactly in time, 4:30 am (thanks to the kitchen staff). My wife were so encouraged that we fished two times. After fishing, this is reasonable to visit on the same boat a “white sand beach”. There are a lot of “varungs” (local cafes) where your fish will be roasted or grilled by your taste for a normal price. On the top, you’ll be able to use all day sunbeds and sunshades for free.
And of course I can’t pass over in silence a diving. First reason because it was our first dive. Second is a world famous “Liberty” is very close to the hotel. Third and main reason is a perfect company that taught and assisted us. Zhenya and his friend, dive master Patricia, organized for us an unforgettable dive. A couple words about Patricia. Originally she is from Spain, lives in Bali and Philippines many years. By our own experience, we can confirm that she is very and very professional. Patricia works in «Southern Dreams Diving Club».
So, if you need to spend a vacation with your spouse or with your friends in atmosphere of calmness and with interesting adventures Arco Iris is a right place.
We had dinner in this restaurant as it is close to the place we are staying at. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied and interesting. The food was fresh and tasty . We were the only couple there but as the place is hidden away from the main road in a quiet location and as this is low season , it's not unusual. There are steps up to the restaurants but just a few (advise for elderly or wheelchair people)
I came from Melbourne Australia, stayed in Arco Iris for a week and loved every minute of it! Accomodation was spotless, the restaurant menu provided a wide variety of freshly cooked delicious meals. The staff was always at hand and very attentive. The owners Tatiana and Jenia were around to help. On my request Jenia planned a couple of interesting trips for me, Tatiana organised a car for travel, a good massage and a scuba diving trip on a short notice, Both were very welcoming and made me feel at home. I stayed at the hotel alone but never felt lonely. Lovely people, lovely hotel, very reasonable price. I am definitely coming back again!
Loved this place! It shows that the staff and management care about the resort; the grounds are well maintained and the rooms were impeccable. I recommend eating at their restaurant, you won't regret it.
