Best part of my trip
Elijah Lon 14/08/2017 15:14After a long journey from Hamburg, walking to and into this hotel actually made me smile. I had an amazing room, service, and location to enjoy everything Leipzig had to offer. The restaurant was a great way to relax after a long trip and not wanting to venture too far yet. The room was modern and clean and had a beautiful view over the church. The best part was I could open my windows at night and listen to the music but when I wanted quiet I could close them and I heard nothing, not even the other guests in the hotel. Everything was luxurious, complete with air conditioning. If you're planning a trip to Leipzig this place will not disappoint!
Location, service and comfort - three best things about Arcoa Living bach
395Edwardon 23/07/2017 10:32We have really enjoyed our stay at the Arcona Living Bach 14.
The hotel is right in the centre opposite Thomaskirche where you can see JS Bach's grave. Next door to Bachs museum. There are often music performances in the courtyard in front of the hotel. The hotel is surrounded by cafes and bars - and within walking distance of Nicholaskirche (where the movement that started the fall of the Berlin Wall grew) and the Stasi museum. Leipzig is fantastic, tree-lined streets and beautiful architecture with a slow organised rhythm which is hard not to love.
We found the staff in the hotel very helpful - from giving us a cup of fresh milk for our tea on arrival, to offering to stay up to show us to our room in the early hours. We opted for their digital lockers to pick up keys, and helped ourselves. The staff help you locate wherever you wish to go, and even offered to come out to rescue us if we got lost!
The Kantate rooms at the back of the hotel are silent, with controllable effective air conditioning in each room. There are electric blinds you can lower to keep out the sun. You look out on grass and bushes. The beds are very comfortable - although not enough pillows from the start than we needed. The large bath and effective shower were great too. OK - The WIFI works fine off-peak but slows up . It has an annoying limit on number of devices which doesnt really work for todays multi-device traveller - but i am guessing they have bandwidth problems. The menu in the restaurant is limited - we went once. But the quality of what they prepare is good. The kitchenette worked for us - so we could avoid the expensive breakfast on offer, and opt for Lidl breakfast instead. Lidl too is within two mins. The towels were a little small.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel - I would certainly come back. It is friendly, efficient and very comfortable.
Fantastic hotel for Bach lovers!
gdarroughon 07/06/2017 20:30Our stay in June 2017 at the hotel was just marvelous. The hotel is directly across the square from the Thomaskirche and almost adjacent to the Bach Museum in the heart of Leipzig. Rooms are airy, clean, and well appointed, especially the larger suites which are well worth the $$. Beautiful hotel, close to shops, restaurants, concert halls, and an easy walk to the mammoth train station with all its shops. First rate!
Walkable wonderful Leipzig
Schiltronon 01/06/2017 21:07There 3 nights, end of May. Location a bit of a walk from the main train station but pretty straightforward; I discovered later you can get an S-Bahn from the Hauptbahnhof to Markt (1 stop) which gets you to a short 150 meters from the hotel.
I had a room in the front building in the Sonate category, with a view directly to Thomaskirche. I paid at an 'Early bird special' rate, which gave % off: so, €293,30 total (inc vat and other taxes), which I prepaid (part of the deal). Excellent price; definitely value for money. Breakfast was extra, at €18 each.
The room was comfortable and lacked no basic amenities that I'd want. It also had a sink, hotplates, and microwave, features in the Sonate category, but I did not use them; they just came with the category which I chose for its feature of having a front-street view.
The hotel is close to the Markt, high streets, and key sights. There's a nice mix of tourists and locals in the area; the food and flower stalls set up in the Markt one day were of the homespun style, nothing trendy, for the locals (similar to what you would see in Aachen or Freiburg IB, but more of them (stalls)).
And the question on everybody's lips is, 'Where is the closest mini/supermarket?', and questioners will be pleased to know there is a 'Lidl' supermarket only 200 meters away (walk down Burgstrasse) inside the Petersbogen arcade/complex on Schlossgasse. There is, also, further afield, an 'Aldi' down inside the Hauptbahnhof shopping complex, and an 'Edeka' supermarket and a 'Denn's Biomarkt' in the Hofe am Bruhl shopping complex at 1 Bruhl street.
Quit hotel near Thomaskirche
Adrianus2on 14/03/2017 20:18A very quite and comfortable hotel near the Thomaskirche. Friendly rooms, modern decorated. You can park your car nearby for a eight euro's per 24 hours (Martin Luther-Ring Parkplatz). From the hotel you can walk to all the sightseeing places in town. Excellent breakfast in a cosy place with a view on the statue of J.S. Bach and the Thomaskirche. The hotel is next to the Bach Museum.
