This is what my reaction was when I had to deal with the staff there. I stayed there for 2 nights and my first impression was that the staff was extremely rude and unwelcoming. The lady that was at the front desk at the moment we arrived to checkin (apparently a supervisor!) barely said hello, after we waited for her to finish whatever she was doing and dared to interrupt. Not one time would she even look at us while we were talking to her.
Probably had a bad day we thought.
Once we finally got our room, it didn't look modern and classy as we thought it would be. There was an apple on the floor (i guess it fell?) and the bed sheets were messy and not clean looking at all. There were lots of dark long hairs on both the pillows and the sheets. The decoration seemed more adapted to a brothel than to a 4 star hotel. Of course that's only my very subjective opinion on the matter but having a huge round red light over the bed didn't make for a modern and elegant experience.
I had initially booked for only one night but decided to extend for one more night as it was, regardless of the overall bad experience, available for quite good rates. So I first checked the availabilities and rates on my laptop then went down to the front desk where I said that I'd like to extend and that I had these prices on the website including a 15% off coupon they had on their website. I asked the (same) lady if she could extend for me with the website prices or if it would be easier if I just did it myself from my laptop. She said she would do it herself for me, so I gave her my credit card and went back the next day to get my new room. Little did we know that she had charged a completely different price without telling us. When we complained they gave us many different reasons that didn't even make sense since if we had booked directly on their website ourselves we would have gotten that rate without any problem. In the end we got a lower rate but we didn't even insist on using the 15% off at this point. Oh and they had planned to let us keep the same room for the next night but didn't even call us to tell us that we didn't have to pack all our stuff and go down to the front desk only to go back to the same room and unpack our stuff 10 minutes later. Oh and they said they didn't want to wake us up.. how nice!

Nice hotel with location at Reperbahn

EsbenNorbyon 02/08/2017 09:49

Hotel is at the end of the known Reeperbahn street at St.Pauli. We were the only for one night since we were on our way to Italy. Hotel is clean and nice. We asked for a room high up, however there wasn't any available above 4.th floor. Instead we were upgraded with a superior room. Very good service I think. There is a parking garage few meter from the hotel. Breakfast is quit expensive 19 euro per person. Hotel was not very expensive. We payed 90 euro.

Location

The location of this Hotel is very good. If you are in Hamburg for sightseeing, you can basically visit all highlights of the city by foot (Reeperbahn, St Pauli, Neustadt, Altstadt, Hafencity, St Georg). The Hotel itself is, in my opinion, not very special. Basic rooms with reasonable beds and a reasonable (small) shower. Very moderately decorated - not 'cosy' at all.
You can park your car in the 'Tanzende Turme' parking garage under the Hotel - you can access the Hotel directly from the parking garage. Very convenient. The 'Tanzende Turme' has a nice rooftop bar - you get a nice overview of Hamburg if you visit the bar ('Clouds').
The breakfast is good but rather expensive. All in all: reasonable Hotel at a great location, but nothing special.

Nice hotel but I did not like the area

Denica Kon 22/07/2017 23:33

This was a lovely, modern hotel. The room was clean and spacious and I enjoyed how it was decorated. There weren't many meal choices available from the hotel restaurant, especially for room service. However, the Reeperbahn has a number of budget friendly restaurants and bars to choose from. As a woman walking around in the evening I did not particularly like the Reeperbahn and I would not walk too far from the hotel into the red light district. The further down this road, it seemed a little dodgy or unsafe and my German colleagues warned me that there are certain streets that women are forbidden to enter. The central city area is close by - about 20 mins walking, 15 mins train or less than EUR10 in a taxi. Overall the hotel is very nice and the staff were polite. I just did not like the area so much and would prefer to stay away from the red light district next time.
