Good hotel and location

Staff was very helpful, easy solve late my arrival problem. Hotel located very close to Veltins Arena. Easy arena access by walking. Free car parking good advantage. Next to hotel Burger King. Inside hotel Sushi restorane.

Simple but clean hotel

I stayed here for two nights when unusual heat wave struck Northern Germany.
The hotel looked old and our room was very basic but very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and one of them spoke good English. Breakfast was also reasonably-priced with good selections of cold meals (and some cooked dishes). The hotel provides free car park. There is a large supermarket, walking for less than 10min from the hotel.
If you need to know how to get to the hotel from Gelsenkirchen train station, simply email them. They will reply to you with good instruction.

I wanted to give them 5 out of 5, but due to the heat wave and no air conditioning nor fans in the room (they had only 9 fans for guests, and all of them were gone when we checked in), I could not sleep almost at all in the first night. The room temperature at midnight was over 30C with no fan. I do know that the heat was not their fault and was unusual for the area. But at the end, I could not fall sleep due to the heat. I wished I could have a fan at least.

I stayed here to attend a concert at Veltins Arena. The hotel allowed me to have my ticket sent to them rather than to Australia, which saved me EU30. They held the ticket safely for 8 months. Service from the desk staff was excellent - very friendly, and showing great patience with my basic German (although they spoke good English). The hotel itself was really nice, well-furnished and attractive. Toilets and showers (at one end of each floor) were very clean and quite spacious. I never encountered a queue. My single room was comfortable and contained a basin, desk and chair. It was on the second floor (no elevator). Breakfast couldn't be faulted - a smorgasbord with a huge selection, again with excellent service.

The location was awesome. An easy trip on tram 302, then a 10 minute walk to the hotel. It's easy to find, but the entrance is at the back, not facing the street. It's then a 10 minute walk to Veltins Arena (longer to get back when everyone leaves at the same time), but by the time I got back to my room and was ready for bed, a look out the window at the huge traffic jam made me feel quite smug.

We stayed for 4 nights B&B to watch the Match v Mainz.
Take Tram 302 towards Gelsenkirchen Buer and the Hotel stop is 12-15 mins out of town. The stop you need is Willy Brandt Allee. Cross at the lights and the Hotel is 500 metres down on the right hand side.
There is a decent Mongolian Buffet in the Hotel and a Cinema and restaurant across the road but frankly there seemed to be very little going on in the area when there is not a match on (but come match day 61000+ appear from nowhere and the hotel gets busy).
Gelsenkirchen Buer 3 stops further on tram (past Arena) has a lot more restaurants and pubs than Gelsenkirchen itself where we found only 1 pub).
If travelling around on the railway/trams I suggest you look into Landerer tickets which allow 2-5 people to travel around the North Westphalia area for the day to places like Cologne, Leverkausen or Dusseldorf for around 40 Euros. You can get similar group tickets for more local places like Dortmond (18euros for 2 people) so it all makes sense to buy ahead. As a return to the Gelsenkirchen HBF on the tram is 5 euros per person.
As for Hotel it's good for Stadium, has big rooms very friendly staff and decent breakfast, if you are not going to the match I can't imagine why you would want to stay here though !

Good value of rmoney

Stayed here to watch a match of Schalke 04. You can see the stadium from the hotel, so a perfect location, and not too far from the highway exit. You can grab a cheap bite to eat in the next door Chinese restaurant (EUR 14,- for all you can eat buffer) or some fast food at the Burger King or Mc Donalds. Also a nice bar called Cafe du Sol within walking distance.
Regarding the value for money the hotel is good. Slept in a 3 bed room, the bed were not too good, you could feel the springs in the mattress and the couch bed was too hard. However, like said, you dont pay much, so you dont expect too much. Breakfast was simple but sufficient and the match was great!
