beware this is a scam !!!
patrick von 22/03/2013 00:21This supposeldy hotel with beautiful pics is nothing but an apartment in a semi decrepit builiding block reached through four flights of steps - the heating doesnt work, the bathroom featured in the deceiving pics is a comunal one which doesn't lock and the breakfast is absolutley miserable the person running it makes you feel that you are being tolerated. You are ripped off if you decide to leave before the booked dates but the rip of is worth it - we left this depressing place after a night SO DONT EVEN THINK OF STAYING THERE
oh my god - such a disaster
izunias84on 31/08/2012 22:30We went to sicily one year ago and we stayed there for one night. It was a complete disaster. The price was the highest in the whole Sicily (80 euros per night and in better b&Bs we paid 60-70 euros). It was filthy and discgusting. The walls were full of stains and the kitchen... unbelievably dirty. No breakfast and the distance to the old town about 1 hour on foot. Not worth it!!!
!!! DO NOT GO THERE !!!
lester_joon 31/05/2011 23:29for more than 10 years we chose B&B 's to stay during our vacation.; but this is the worst one we ever had. This isn't a B&B, this is only an appartment used by the owner to "earn" money, with misleading information on the website - don't trust the pictures, it all seems a nice and cosy place, but in fact it's a cool and non sympathetic appartment. And the emails they write !! "Our team will be on hand to welcome you and will do their best to make your stay a memorable one..." ??? - there isn't even a team!!! only that one guy with his big Mercedes (I don't have a problem with that brand of car) .
There weren't any towels, he had to bring them later in the evening, and they weren't even dry!!
Breakfast : costs another 5€; only the coffee looked like breakfast, and in the mean while , that guy was talking to his mobile phone on the terras, always looking over his shoulder , wondering if we had finished.
the only thing that is right about it was the fact that the building is situated on the outskirts of the city. Dirty, very noisy, nothing to see or to do.
...........SO IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A BAD EXPERIENCE DURING YOUR STAY IN SICILY.....
Impossible to find - not really worth it once found!
swissonionon 21/04/2009 08:35We live in Zurich. We booked a week stay at Club Med Kamarina and needed a place to stay after a 5 hour drive from Zurich to Genova and a 22 hour ferry ride to Palermo. I picked Piazza Armenia to stay in as it was a couple of hours from Palermo and right next to a supposedly amazing Roman house with beautiful mosaics (I can highly recommend that UNESCO world heritage site). I got a decent rate on hotels.co.uk for a quadruple room in Piazza Armenia. After going on the Armerino website, I thought it looked great - right in the center of town! with indoor parking! breakfast included! And, after all, it was a hotel, so they wouldn't mind if we showed up a bit late at night. I couldn't find a review on trip advisor, but thought that, just this once, I would risk it.
Yikes. Yikes. Yikes.
This B&B, NOT hotel, was ridiculously impossible to find. We have a beautiful, always reliable, GPS system in our BMW AND the directions from the hotel. Still, we drove up and down the street 5 times. We saw a lady walking her dog and I asked in very broken Italian where the Armerino hotel was - she pointed me to a block of flats. When I wandered over there, it was, well, a block of flats with a bunch of people's names on the buzzers. Absolutely no sign of the word "Armerino" ANYWHERE. I gave up and convinced myself that she had misunderstood me. Finally, I had the idea to search for any hotel in the area, using our GPS, hoping that the people there would be able to help us.
We lucked out. We went to the Villa Romana where Gian Carlo, the manager, I think, was so kind and helpful and called the number listed on the website for the Armerino. About 10 minutes later, the sister, of the brother and sister team who run the Armerino, showed up and we followed her back to her B&B. Sure enough, her place was that block of flats that the dog walker had showed us! And, no, there was no underground parking: we were asked to park on the street.
After waiting outside in the freezing cold with the sister and some of her friends (all in their 20's it seemed), the brother showed up about 5 minutes later with the key. We were shown to our 4th floor flat - no lift. The room was decent - plenty big enough for the 5 of us. The sister asked what time we wanted breakfast in the morning: I asked her if 8 am was ok - she said ok, but looked like she thought that was way too early.
We took showers in the morning which was a disaster - the shower was alternating with boiling hot water and freezing cold water. We made our way down to breakfast to find a couple of pieces of toast, one jam, some coffee and no sugar! And, of course, a pretty surly sister who really had no time for us. We took our time eating, were really enjoying finally being somewhere after such a long journey, and the sister had long left us to chat on her cellphone, a big habit of hers. When she returned, around 9, we asked her if we could leave our things in the room for a couple of hours so that we could wander into town - about a 15 minute walk away, by the way. She said that we couldn't - that we needed to vacate the room as she had to clean it for the next people. Bear in mind that this was at 9 am! When my husband asked her if we could leave the bags in the reception for an hour or so, she gave a very unenthusiastic yes, maybe, ok as an answer.
My husband was still keen to follow out this plan, but I wanted to get the heck out of there ASAP. We packed our bags, gave a salute to the shower that had been dripping all night, and made our way down the 4 flights of stairs. The sister was standing in a half closed door, chatting, as always, on her cellphone. I dropped the keys in her hand, told her that we had decided just to leave. We never saw the brother again.
By the way, the first night when we arrived, the brother asked us to spread the word about his "hotel" to the good people of America. Believe me, I will any chance I get!
My husband and my theory is that this brother and sister inherited this property and decided to turn it into a B&B, or something similar. At any rate, I think that you need a real talent and a certain personality to run a good B&B - this brother and sister team have neither.
