Holiday break

What a lovely area of Spain. Here at playa d'aro you can see some beautiful sunsets that are stunning. Some lovely little coves to sunbath in. Hotel aromar is situated on the esplanade- step outside onto the beach. The hotel is a little dated, from the outside it doesn't look all that, and inside it isn't the most modern of places. The rooms are small but if you are just sleeping there- no problems. Some of the bathrooms are very dated and could do with a refurb. There is a swimming pool but it was closed! Would have been really nice to have used it. Breakfast and dinner is buffet style- neither are that special but again you probably won't be eating in that much. Dining area and bar could do with a make over as well. Close to the town close to the beach so ok as a base.

Very bad for a 3* hotel

We received a very bad treatment from the manager of the reception. Her answers were really dishonest and unacceptable.
Avoid staying in this hotel. Hope they release that they need to be more nice with clients.

Nice hotel, rooms need attention

I took a short break at this hotel in October 2016. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. My room was booked as a gift and I'm really glad that this was the hotel of choice for the people who gave me the gift. Mine was a single room, though thankfully I had a double bed, which was comfortable enough. I will say though, that the room was pretty small. The galley bathroom was tiny and I had to move sideways. No big deal, but just a point for note. One minor niggle was the bedroom sockets would not accommodate my laptop charger, which is French in origin. Why this would happen is beyond me as the same laptop accompanied my last visit to Spain with no issues at all. In general, the hotel has some lovely facilities and has pride of place with the bar terrace opening right out onto the beautifully clean beach. Breakfast was the standard buffet style with continental, pastry, cold buffet and hot buffet options. You would not go hungry at breakfast, and I most certainly didn't. My package included dinner and while there's plenty of choice from another buffet, I was left somewhat disappointed the first night. The food is acceptable, but didn't astound me. Which I found a bit of a let down for a 4 star facility. The food was better the other two nights but still, somewhat lacking. My only issue with the evening buffet is that I was standing and wandering around the entrance for five minutes before finally asking a fellow diner how to proceed. I feel that while the waiting staff were absolutely lovely, the restaurant needs a supervisor or someone to stay near the entrance to welcome and guide new guests as there are literally no instructions as to how to proceed. One thing I cannot fault is the quality and friendliness of the staff. Everyone I met were excellent, and some exceptional. Cleanliness was top notch and although my room seemed tired and in need of updating, it was perfectly clean. My only other gripe was the WiFi and having to pay a small fee. Had I known the laptop charger wouldn't fit the wall socket, I might not have paid for it. But all in, a trip that I truly enjoyed and I would gladly return to the Hotel Aromar in the future. And yes, I would recommend it to others.

Enjoyable and good value

We arrived in Platja D'aro on Friday, looking for a decent place to spend our last night of a 4 day break before heading home. We ideally wanted a sea view, to take advantage of the nice weather and amazing views of the beach.

References to TA, took us to try the Hotel Costa Brava, that was prominent and interestingly set at the left hand end of the beach. They had one room available, but no sea view. We checked the room, but it looked onto the car park, and wasn't too inspiring regardless of the view. On registering our negative views about the room available, the very nice and helpful receptionist advised that they also owned another hotel, the Aromar, and she checked with them that they had a room available with sea view.

We wondered back down the beach, and were very pleased to find the room they had was right on the front, with good balcony and that special sea view. The room itself was large and well furnished. Slightly let down by a tired old CRT TV (although nothing worth watching anyway!), and a basic but functional bathroom.

The facilities are good, with decent pool and bar areas, plenty for kids, and evening entertainment on the front. We didn't eat in the evening there, but the full buffet breakfast was ok just about. On the whole, a decent, well positioned hotel, and compared with other options we considered, seemed good value. Some older reviews talk about no lift/lift problems, and unhelpful staff. We had no problems with either of these. The staff were great and so were the lifts!

What happen with the managers? Really bad stuff

We booked for the first week of septmeber, we already payed the rooms for 2 nights and on friday we received a call from the hotel that we can't go there cause a group of people booked and they rather say yes with 6 people than a 2. Thats really nice right? Awesome managers in this hotel never be again.
Btw i've been there once one time ago and it was good but something has changed... Careful people... Don't trust this hotel until you'll be in!!
