Lovely hotel, awesome location!
Marie-Pierre Gon 09/08/2017 01:51I went there last March and loved it for its affordability and discovered on-site that it also had an awesome and perfect location! Well, more than anticipated at least :) Within walking distance from a S-Bahn station, the Reichstag building, Jewish Memorial, Brandenburgh door and more! Clean room, amenities and great service from the staff at the front desk and amazing artsy concept. A bit noisy sometimes at night but nothing that falling asleep with headphones on can't fix. If I ever go back to Berlin, I'll definitely book there again.
A little bohemian experience
Tore_Travelleron 28/07/2017 16:52A hotel with a different style than other hotels. Its a cosy hotel if you like it this way. I experienced that room was in top floor with no elevator, floor in room made noises when you stepped on it.....Room was decoraded with an umbrella in the roof just to mention the way of beeing a little different that mainstream hotels. Location quite central wrt unter den linden. So if you a up for the different hotel experience its a brilliant place , if not, its an average place at the best.
Intriguing hotel with great staff and excellent location!
worleybird98on 18/07/2017 12:14I was traveling in Germany for the first time with my older teenage children. Our first night in Berlin was spent here, and we LOVED it! The check in clerk was super friendly, helping give us directions on the map to the Reichstag (as we had tickets for that night), and since it was pouring when we were leaving he even gave us umbrellas to use! Later that night when we returned STARVING he was able to point us in the right direction for several local eateries that were a great fit. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which is two stories up as Germans don't count the main floor. No elevator, so we lugged our luggage up four flights (at least the stairway was nice and wide and very interesting so that helped!). Our room was everything I was hoping for - big huge door to go in (not a standard room door), and our room actually was 4 separate rooms. You walked into a "living room" with a couch, desk, reading chair, and two huge windows. To the left was a bedroom that slept 2, that was just a bed, nightstands and another huge window. To the right of the living room was a room with just a toilet/sink, and a room with a sink, bath/shower. The bathtub was nice and deep - I was so sad that I didn't have time to take a long bath to relax! Bathroom fixtures were nice and current, and everything was clean, and well done. The couch folded out into a bed for my son - the only complaint was that the living room windows didn't have any shades, so first thing in the morning he was working on a suntan (bedroom window had a nice dark shade, and it had a door to the living room so you could keep the room very dark.) The view was of the courtyard, and the courtyard was just beautiful. Wifi was free and it worked very well. Our room was very "elegant" with several old world portraits - and if you looked closely each one had something quirky painted in (like sunglasses, a headwrap, etc.) Loved it! The hotel is very well located too - maybe 5-10 minute walk to Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, etc. so it made sightseeing a breeze. There are two 24-hour parking garages within a block or so, which made parking very easy too. When we were out later at night finding a restaurant I felt very safe. I loved the quirkiness of the hotel, and everything about it - I would go back in a heartbeat!
Great stay
Anna-Marie Hon 13/07/2017 06:39After a cancellation of air bnb this hotel came to our rescue. Friendly, helpful staff, perfect breakfast, snacks available in reception, perfect location. Only tip, ask for a room in courtyard away from train line.
Quirky, very close to railway
MKMapmanon 11/07/2017 22:21I chose the Arte Luise Kunsthotel for a single night's stay as it was within walking distance of Berlin's central station. Even late at night it felt safe enough, though a little deserted, and took under 15 minutes dragging my wheelie case.
The hotel itself is very quirky with each room individually decorated - there's a booklet available about some of the more interesting ones. This does mean that it tends to lack wardrobe space, and there's no basin in the rooms - you have to use the shared bathrooms, which we adequate enough. The bed was OK - not luxurious, but fine for a short stay.
Staff were all helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast, taken in the restaurant next door, is a bit on the pricey side for a modest hotel, but was very good.
One drawback is that some of the rooms are extremely close to the main railway line, shared with the S-bahn - indeed, during the GDR period part of the building was blocked off as it had been used by easterners to escape to the west by lowering themselves onto the S-bahn tracks. My room was away from the line railway overlooking the inner courtyard, but I'd be cautious about some of the rooms. All rooms can be accessed by a lift, but it's tucked into a far corner of the building - the main staircase is a better bet if you don't have luggage.
